Overview
This position is designed to provide a diverse finance and leadership experience. The successful candidate will be exposed to a wide-range of experiences within the Division. This includes internal financial reporting, analytics, controllership and accounting activities, project management, and process improvement. The Accounting Supervisor will collaborate with the Management Team and other SDI employees, both within and outside the Division to fulfill responsibilities with these and other areas.
Responsibilities
Direct and/or perform routine general accounting functions including month end closing, ensuring proper period end cut-off, monitoring of Accounts Receivable and Accounts Payable, recording of journal entries and maintaining general ledger account reconciliationsEnsure timely and accurate monthly, quarterly, and year-end closings while ensuring compliance with GAAP and applicable laws and regulations.Supervision of the finance, payroll/benefits, and scrap inventory personnel and process.Validate division-wide compliance with implemented policies and procedures and develop/enhance accounting policies and procedures.Continuously challenge/innovate the established close process and day-to-day operationsWillingness to accept special projects and additional duties as assigned.Qualifications
4 year degree in Accounting or FinanceCertified Public Accountant in active status (or working towards certification)Five years of relevant accounting experienceRelevant core-competencies required: time management, highly organized, project management and multi-tasking, applying effective analytical and problem solving skills.Ability to work independently and as a member of a team with excellent interpersonal skills including verbal and written communication with all levels of management.Proficient with Microsoft Excel, Word, and presentation software (e.g. PowerPoint)Familiarity with Microsoft Dynamics GP is a plus
