Overview
The Con Edison Law Department, Practice Operations department is implementing a Contracting Center of Excellence (CoE). The Senior Attorney will be primarily responsible for providing legal services, preparing contracts and other documents, monitoring the contracts-related workflow of the Center of Excellence, overseeing the work of and being a resource for the Contracts Administrator and other CoE staff and playing a key role in developing the structure of the CoE. This is a hybrid position (3 days a week in the office).

Core Responsibilities
The Con Edison Law Department, Practice Operations department is implementing a Contracting Center of Excellence (CoE). The Senior Attorney will be primarily responsible for providing legal services, preparing contracts and other documents, monitoring the contracts-related workflow of the Center of Excellence, overseeing the work of and being a resource for the Contracts Administrator and other CoE staff and playing a key role in developing the structure of the CoE. This is a hybrid position (3 days a week in the office).Work closely with members of the Supply Chain Department, the Law Departments Commercial Transactions team, other legal teams and/or outside counsel as required to develop standardized contracts playbooks, forms, processes, and procedures. Provide counsel and advice regarding contractual legal services.Observe legal trends and develop recommendations for contracts playbook development, improvement and contract management best practices.Draft, review, negotiate and revise certain contracts and contract-related documents and/or other Company policies, including but not limited to agreements for the purchase of goods and/or services, real estate agreements and regulatory-related agreements.Understand the Companys businesses in order to identify legal risks and develop solutions, including mitigation and negotiation strategies.Manage the drafting, negotiation and revision of a wide variety of contracts by CoE staff and act as an escalation point and approver.Coordinate and collaborate with other organizations within the Company to assess, investigate and address assigned matters as appropriate.Perform other legal, supervisory and other tasks and assignments as required and with moderate supervision.
Qualifications
Required Education/Experience
Juris Doctorate and A minimum of 8 years of relevant experience.
Relevant Work Experience
Expertise in drafting and negotiating a wide variety of commercial agreements RequiredExperience developing and/or working with contracts-related playbooks RequiredExperience leading initiatives and/or teams and fostering a positive environment RequiredExcellent organizational, interpersonal and leadership skills RequiredExcellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively and handle internal and external customers professionally RequiredAbility to work well independently and in a team environment RequiredProficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, specifically Word, MS Excel and PowerPoint RequiredAbility to learn new software applications and databases RequiredDetail-oriented with excellent analytical skills RequiredAbility to efficiently handle multiple tasks and projects with competing priorities and deadlines RequiredAbility to handle confidential and sensitive information RequiredAbility to work effectively with employees at all levels RequiredFamiliarity with Oracle E-Business Suite Preferred
