This is a hybrid role based out of our Waitsfield, VT or Andover, MA office.
What you'll be doing:
The Accounting Associate will assist in preparing and coordinating detailed journal entries for the general ledger. They will participate in closing monthly accounting records, reconciling balance sheet accounts, supporting audit requests, maintaining internal controls, leading ad hoc projects, and serving as a liaison between multiple departments to ensure information is reported timely and accurately.
Ensure accounting records and entries are prepared with diligence, and that reconciliations and other supporting documentation is organized in a clear and consistent mannerRecord cash entries and prepare bank reconciliationsDevelop an understanding of the business and forge strong relationships with the manufacturing sites and other departmentsOwner of the freight accrual, prepaid expenses schedules, and certain AR entriesServe as backup AP as it relates to matching purchase orders; assist with coding invoices for specific vendorsAssist in monthly close process by preparing assigned journal entries and performing reviews; research monthly flux drivers and identify anomalies; generate reports for management's reviewWork closely with Finance in compiling and cross-checking departmental budgetsReview and approving employee expenses in CertifyManage sales and use tax exemption and credit reference requestsDrive process improvements to streamline the flow of information within the department and across the company's sitesWhat we are seeking:
Education Level - Required/Preferred - BS Accounting
Work Experience - 2+ years as an accountant
Practical/Technical Knowledge -
Excellent verbal and written communication skills and a desire to work across departmentsOrganized, accurate, detail-orientedStrong motor with an ability to identify opportunities to streamline processesStrong knowledge of ExcelDesire to learn the fundamentals of the industry and take on new challengesAbility to work independently and multi-task in a flexible, fast-paced environmentJD Edwards and/or NetSuite a plus
