Hyundai America Technical Center, Inc (HATCI) is looking for two experienced Engineers for the BIW Structure System at our Superior Township, MI facility.

Key Responsibilities

Design and develop complex BIW systems (Upperbody, Underbody, FEM structure, bumpers, trailer hitches, tow hooks, fenders, etc.) while mentoring and guiding junior engineers.Perform design-releasing duties for N.A. based vehicle projects and manage system BOM's.Expert use of CATIA V5 and other engineering tools to create and modify 3D data and 2D drawings.Lead cost/mass target reduction studies for component parts.Lead investigations into quality, assembly and durability issues and suggest engineering improvements while mentoring and guiding junior engineers on best practices to mitigate future issues.Lead cross-functional team interface actions with other engineering design teams, suppliers, etc., both domestically & within Korea.Lead design & issue resolution actions with US-based Korean Coordinators.Review and advise on part/system performance and regulatory testing.Lead benchmarking activities for future product development opportunities.Be a liaison between North American affiliates and Korean headquarters.Recommend engineering improvements for assessed field claims based on customer feedback and other sources.Use your experience to guide the interpretation of regulations and crash performance requirements.Support advanced development of BIW systems and components for future vehicles.Travel up to 20% of time domestically and/or internationally.

Engineers should be able to demonstrate:

Familiarity with MS Office to prepare reports/spreadsheets as necessary to support project work.Proficiency using Computer-Aided Design Tools (Catia V5 experience required, additional NX experience is a plus).5+ years working knowledge of sheet metal (Steel & Aluminum) and plastics, forming, welding, joining, and production assembly techniques.Good working knowledge of BIW design & development working closely with the CAE teams.Experience in cradle to grave product development best practices & processes.Multiple OEM product launch experience.Experienced in part & assembly Datum Schemes and dimensional tolerance application.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree or above in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline by an accredited University or College.5+ years relevant work experience preferred.Valid Driver's License & satisfactory driving record.Candidates applying for positions with Hyundai Kia must be legally authorized to work in the United States.
