We are seeking a highly knowledgeable and experienced Pharmacogenomics Subject Matter Expert (SME) to join our team. The ideal candidate will have deep expertise in the field of pharmacogenomics, including the application of genetic information to drug response and personalized medicine. This role will involve providing strategic guidance, leading research initiatives, and collaborating with cross-functional teams to drive the integration of pharmacogenomics into our product offerings and clinical practices.
This is a key contributing role that helps us in our accelerated growth, which shapes the future of our products and company growth. You will collaborate closely with the clinical subject matter expert team, stakeholders in R&D and sales, and clinical customers to deliver innovative solutions that improve patient care across the country. The position is permanently remote, allowing you to work anywhere in the U.S. or Canada.
What you will do
Subject Matter Expertise: Serve as the go-to expert on pharmacogenomics, providing insights and guidance on the implications of genetic variations on drug efficacy, safety, and metabolism.
Research & Development: Lead and participate in research initiatives aimed at advancing the understanding of pharmacogenomics and its application in personalized medicine.
Clinical Integration: Collaborate with clinical teams to develop and implement pharmacogenomic strategies in clinical trials, drug development, and patient care.
Customer Engagement: Regularly meet with customers and stakeholders to customize pharmacogenomic reporting and solutions based on specific needs.
Education & Training: Develop and deliver training programs to educate internal teams and external partners on pharmacogenomics concepts, technologies, and applications.
Regulatory Support: Provide expert input on regulatory submissions, ensuring that pharmacogenomic data is accurately represented and complies with relevant guidelines.
External Collaboration and Business Development: Work with external partner companies and business development leadership to ensure seamless integration of pharmacogenomics into shared initiatives and identify new opportunities to expand our offerings.
Integration with Front-End UI Engineers: Collaborate with front-end UI engineers to ensure that pharmacogenomic insights are translated into user-friendly, intuitive interfaces.
Data Interpretation: Analyze pharmacogenomic data to support drug development, patient stratification, and personalized treatment plans.
Scientific Communication: Publish research findings in peer-reviewed journals, contribute to white papers, present at conferences, and work closely with marketing teams to develop compelling content that communicates the value of pharmacogenomics.
Tailored Solutions: Collaborate closely with customers to ensure pharmacogenomic reporting and solutions are customized to meet their clinical goals and specific needs.
What you bring to the team
Ph.D. or equivalent in Pharmacogenomics, Genetics, Pharmacology, or a related field.
Minimum of 5 years of experience in pharmacogenomics, preferably within the pharmaceutical or biotech industry.
Proficiency in genetic data analysis tools, bioinformatics, and understanding of high-throughput sequencing technologies.
Deep understanding of pharmacokinetics, pharmacodynamics, and the genetic basis of drug response.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex scientific concepts to diverse audiences.
Proven ability to work effectively in cross-functional teams and manage multiple projects simultaneously.
Familiarity with regulatory guidelines related to pharmacogenomics (e.g., FDA, EMA).
Demonstrated experience leading research projects and mentoring junior scientists.
Bonus if you have
Experience with clinical implementation of pharmacogenomics.
Proficiency in coding, particularly in Python, is a strong advantage, as it enables you to contribute directly to the development of bioinformatics pipelines and custom pharmacogenomics solutions.
Prior experience in drug development or clinical pharmacology.
Knowledge of personalized medicine approaches and strategies.
Experience with population-based studies or large-scale genomic data sets.
