POSITION OVERVIEWThe Security Monitor provides overall facility monitoring and surveillance through regular facility rounds, maintains a log of persons entering and exiting the facility. Conducts fire drills and maintains log books on fire drill and emergency apparatus. The security staff also documents accounts of residents’ non-compliance with curfews and other rules and regulations.Salary: $34,307MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIESMaintain a log of visitors entering and exiting the premises and record all unusual incidents per established procedures, while ensuring that only authorized personnel and visitors enter the property.Surveillance of the grounds, facility, and activities of the residents to prevent theft and resident harm.Ensure that all doors from the facility are locked and secured.Monitor fire and safety procedures.Provide administrative support in the area of office coverage, telephone, and clerical work.Perform light maintenance responsibilities in the absence of maintenance staff.Perform other duties as assigned by the Director.Function independently in terms of facility coverage, including responsibility for appropriate action in crisis situations per agency procedures.Meet with Security Supervisor for individual and group supervision and training.Assist with the delivery of supplies and furniture.Participate in monthly staff meetings and training seminars conducted to enhance and develop one’s skills.SPECIFICATIONS FOR EDUCATION/CERTIFICATIONS/LICENSESHigh School Diploma with at least 1 year of experience in a residential shelter.REQUIRED SKILLS AND EXPERIENCEThree years of experience as a security monitor.Need to understand the issues of homeless families.Experience working in a 24-hour residential facility, able to work with minimum supervision and as a team player.Valid NY State Registration as a Security Guard.Must have the ability to be flexible with schedule as needed.Excellent written and verbal skills are required.Must be computer literate and must have knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.Bilingual Spanish preferred.At URI, we are committed to cultivating an inclusive work environment.
