www.ucihealth.org.Your Role on the TeamPosition Summary:The Coder is responsible for timely review of patient records in order to identify an appropriate selection of codes that will accurately reflect the reason for admission, extent of care received, and level of severity of illness. Coder is further responsible for ensuring that all data elements required for federal and state reporting are collected and included in the patient's demographic record.What It Takes to be SuccessfulRequired Qualifications:2 years working experience, or demonstrate competence in coding inpatient, same day surgery, emergency department, outpatient diagnostic medical records or must have adequate training in assigning ICD-10-CM/PCS and CPT codes.Must possess the skill, knowledge and ability essential to the successful performance of assigned duties.Must demonstrate customer service skills appropriate to the job.Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English.Ability to maintain a work pace appropriate to the workload.Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships across the Health System.Preferred Qualifications:Knowledge of University and medical center organizations, policies, procedures and forms.2 years' experience as a coder in an acute care hospital.Physical Requirement:
Must be sighted and able to hear normal phone conversation. Must have sufficient manual dexterity to utilize computer keyboards. Must be able to sit and/or stand for long periods. Must be able to write legibly.
