Job Description
We have an exciting opportunity for a
Project Engineer
that is interested in pursing a career with heavy industrial equipment. This position is responsible for technical assistance to the Project Manager for capital projects. This candidate will coordinate the efforts of both the project execution team and engineering from the initial sale until customer acceptance of the equipment performance.
Each project will progress through four distinct phases and require specific job duties:
1) Initiate Project
Set up project filing system.Prepare project schedule and drawing list.Prepare project specifications including engineering, design, manufacturing, painting, andshippingRelease general layout and foundation plan for approval and follow-up with client.Prepare invoicing to client.Prepare base bill of materials.2) Project Administration
Communicate with client on “daily” questionsAssure timely completion of engineering documents and drawingsCreate / monitor component lists necessary to support bid packagesPrepare bid packages / specifications for sub-suppliersNegotiate sub-contracts / vendor purchase ordersMonitor sub-contract / vendor invoicing and process paymentExpedite manufacturing scheduleCoordinate QA/QC plan with engineersCoordinate logistics of equipment transportation3) Erection and Commissioning Support
Construct Installation, Operation and Maintenance ManualsCoordinate document submittalsSchedule equipment deliveriesTrack contractual scope changesRespond to erection service requirements such as engineering errors and omissions, field modificationsRespond to commissioning mechanical and controls service requirements4) Project Closure
Ensure performance guarantees are obtainedObtain client retainage paymentAssist Project Manager with warranty issuesAssist Project Manager with liquidated damages and/or back charge claimsMark-up as-built drawingsReview “lessons learned” with the project team
Required:
Bachelor’s degree in mechanical engineering1-3 years of experience in engineering with knowledge of heavy industrial equipment including mechanical, hydraulic, electrical components, steel fabrication, and AISC painting requirements.3d CAD experienceStrong communication skillsPreferred:
Successful completion of the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) Exam
