DEP’s Office of Technology and Information Services (OTIS) is currently seeking a Systems Programmer III. The incumbent of this position serves as a senior network engineer. Duties entail technical work in the study, installation, maintenance and performance tuning of LAN and WAN networks. This position provides technical expertise for the design, maintenance and monitoring of the Department of Environmental Protection’s core network including both LAN and WAN, voice gateways, switches and firewalls both on-prem and cloud-based. The incumbent will represent OTIS and must be helpful, cooperative, polite, respectful, and courteous at all times in interactions with customers.The Difference You Will Make:

Analyzes the needs and requirements of the agency to research and design new systems for computer communications and networking. Makes recommendations to management about data networking. Directs the maintenance of such computer communications equipment and software to ensure quality and security of the data network. Assists or directs the upgrades and repairs of systems. Monitors projects to ensure timely completion, quality and efficiency.Provides documentation and training of the systems and network group for all computer communications equipment. Conducts research and development in the implementation and maintenance of network facilities that affects the distributed computer environment. Troubleshoots network and server-based problems and develops solutions, as well as works with the network groups to develop solutions. Demonstrates strong relationship and interpersonal skills in working with program staff and vendor community.Serves as a subject matter expert consulting with other program areas and divisions for network-related IT purchases. This also includes integrating a wide array of IT software and hardware purchases with the agency’s network environment.Performs related tasks as requested.Attendance is an essential function of the position.Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Ability to work on-call, weekends, and holidays, as needed.Advanced knowledge of network routing protocols including BGP, OSPF, and EIGRP.Knowledge of Azure Cloud Virtual networking including NSGs and UDRs.Knowledge of MPLS networks.Knowledge of WAN and LAN network environments.Knowledge of switching concepts including spanning tree, trunking, and port security.Knowledge of VOIP and Wireless principles.Knowledge of network security including firewall management, access control lists, and best practices.Ability to travel overnight and maintain a valid driver’s license.Other Job-Related Requirements for this Position:
