is seeking an Applications Engineer to be responsible for supporting the capital sales team specifically focusing on bottle filling, capping, cap sorting, and bottle sanitizing processes in food processing areas. This position involves understanding the unique requirements of beverage packaging within the food industry and providing technical expertise to ensure efficient and hygienic packaging operations. The Applications Engineer collaborates with internal teams, customers, and suppliers to develop and implement innovative packaging solutions that meet industry standards and regulations. The Applications Engineer will report to the Director of Project Management. Responsibilities include the following:Are you passionate about this work?
Process and evaluate data related to sales inquiries to develop concepts for machine design.Coordinate with outside vendors to procure quotations for equipment to be sourced for the machine design.Responsible for cost estimating for the proposed customer solution.Act as a liaison between customers, sales, and internal departments to facilitate communication and ensure customer satisfaction during the quoting process.Responsible for creating a project budget to hand off to the Project Manager.Make recommendations for alternate designs and solutions, if applicable.Gather cost data from historical records and equipment vendors to create cost workbooks.Participate in pre-sale design reviews and customer sales presentations with Sales Representatives (up to 10% travel possible).Communicate with Inside and Outside Sales, customers, and prospects to provide product line, technical, and commercial information necessary to obtain orders.Assist in the new order process, which includes order kickoff, concept reviews, design reviews, and post-shipment reviews.Conduct customer presentations and information sessions regarding bottle filling and ancillary machinery.Other tasks assigned by supervisor.Who we’re looking for?Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Packaging Engineering, or related field or comparable experience.Experience in the beverage packaging industry, particularly in bottle filling, capping, cap sorting, and bottle sanitizing processes preferred.Strong technical aptitude and problem-solving skills, with the ability to analyze complex packaging challenges and develop innovative solutions.Knowledge of food safety regulations and industry standards, such as FDA, USDA, and GMP beneficial.Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to effectively interact with customers, suppliers, and cross-functional teams.Proficiency in CAD software for designing and modeling packaging equipment and components. SolidWorks proficiency a plus.Willingness to travel supporting trade shows and customer sites.
