Northrop Grumman Space Systems – Launch and Missile Defense Systems has an exciting career opportunity for a Staff Systems Engineer / Systems Architect – Infrastructure Architect to join our team of qualified, diverse individuals. This position will be in Colorado Springs, CO.

Position Overview:

The selected Staff Engineer Systems Architect will be part of an integrated team tasked with developing and maintaining the physical, functional, and technical baselines necessary to describe the desired capabilities of an evolving Ballistic Missile Defense Systems (BMDS) / Battle Management, Command & Control, and Communications (C2BMC) system. The selected candidate will be a self-starter with strong attention to detail with excellent writing and speaking skills and will lead projects / functional groups and interface with internal and external customers regularly.

Essential Functions:

Produce CAMEO and Visio diagrams and other engineering products to communicate designs to the rest of the engineering team and taking those products through internal and customer reviews.

Designing production environments and lab modifications to support operations, test, and development needs across a geographically separated team using multiple security levels.

Will work with other Subject Matter Experts on the team to align solutions with different aspects of the program. Champion design patterns, trades, and implementation across the program.

Provide designs for assured, efficient BMDS communications, facilitating reconfigurability, network management/monitoring, and information assurance.

Developing Bills of Material and performing Analysis of Alternatives for competing solutions to capability needs.

Investigation and adaptation of emerging technologies to apply to program.

Reports to the Global Lead Architect and Deputy for tasking and guidance.

Basic Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science degree in a STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) discipline from an accredited university and 12 years of experience OR Masters of Science degree in a STEM discipline with 10 years of experience; OR PhD in a STEM discipline with 7 years of experience.

Ability to adapt new network technology and design patterns for application to the BMDS Command & Control, Battle Management, and Communications system to include software-defined networking concepts.

Skills should include network engineering expertise in logical link layering, Ethernet, WAN, switches, routers (including software routers), and firewalls.

A strong understanding of DMZ, OSPF, BGP, LDAP, Spine Leaf configurations, Band Management, Cabling classification standards, SWAP-C, virtual route forwarding, and TEMPEST.

Experience and knowledge of virtualization methodologies and tools, and management and design of local private cloud instances to include tenant hosting.

Experience integrating COTS elements into a large enterprise with an understanding of cyber patching strategies and risk-based product selection.

Experience with and knowledge of network encryption devices and methodologies.

Experience with Cyber System Accreditation packages.

Experience with Cross Domain transfer solutions and implementation patterns and design of multi-security level enterprise systems.

Experience with DevSecOps development patterns and how infrastructure supports that development methodology.

Ability and willingness to travel 10% to support business needs.

Applicants must have a current active in-scope U.S. Government DoD issued Top Secret security clearance at the time of application and which is required to start; and the ability to obtain and maintain SCI clearance on program.

Preferred Qualifications:

Current active in-scope TS/SCI clearance at the start is highly preferred.

Experience with national missile defense or early warning system capabilities, e.g., C2BMC or other missile defense systems, sensors, or effectors.

Experience with command-and-control systems.

Knowledge of Space Domain Awareness mission areas.

Salary Range:

$150,000 - $225,000

The above salary range represents a general guideline; however, Northrop Grumman considers a number of factors when determining base salary offers such as the scope and responsibilities of the position and the candidate's experience, education, skills and current market conditions.
