We are seeking a
BIM Engineer
responsible for assisting with the design, coordination and deployment of electrical construction systems including power distribution, power generation, instrumentation, lighting and low voltage systems to develop projects from concept to completion.
POSITION SUMMARY
:
The Design Engineer will be responsible for the design, coordination and deployment of electrical construction systems including power distribution, power generation, instrumentation, lighting, and low voltage systems to develop projects from concept to completion.
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Serve as the engineering lead for plan/specification, design/assist, and/or design/build projects less than $5M and as an engineering team member on large projects over $5M.
Navigate and evaluate construction documents, equipment cut sheets, and schematic diagrams from all disciplines, to identify the electrical scope of work and how the installations of other disciplines will affect the electrical installation.
Utilize AutoCAD, Revit and Navisworks to modify/create project specific installation documents.
Lead the complete project or portion of the project depending on the project size in the BIM Coordination for the electrical scope to ensure that we have enough space and that our installation is as efficient as possible while allowing the other trades the space that they need to perform their work.
Participate in the early identification of installations that are best suited to be pre-fabricated, and work with our Spooling Manager to coordinate how those assemblies are to be modeled and constructed.
Work with PayneCrest internal customers along with external customers and vendors to gather information to be incorporated into the design to assure that the design is complete and presented to the field to allow for ease of installation.
Provide mentorship to entry level engineering team members.
CRITICAL COMPETENCIES:
Designing: one-line diagrams to include sizing of all distribution equipment and feeders, lighting and receptacle layouts and circuiting along with grouping circuits for branch circuit homeruns, lighting control systems, mechanical and owner furnished equipment evaluation and conduit and wire sizing, etc.
Intermediate to expert level proficiency in industry drafting and modeling software: AutoCAD, Revit, and Navisworks along with industry standard drafting techniques used to identify electrical installations on 2D documents.
Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM), and the coordination process needed to perform multi-trade clash detection prior to construction to resolve potential design and installation issues.
Experience with typical electrical installations, and well versed in the materials used allowing the designs to be created with the field productivity in mind.
Familiar with value engineering concepts that provide similar results via different technologies.
Extensive knowledge of the National Electric Code (NEC). Able to research and apply local building and energy codes.
