Job Description - Instrument Technician Level 1 (Rotational Schedule) - Prudhoe Bay, Alaska (PRU00V1)DescriptionThis is a remote/rotational position, working two weeks on and two weeks off or three weeks on and three weeks off, in Prudhoe Bay, AK. The typical schedule is 84 hours per week (40 hours straight time and a minimum of 44 hours at time and a half). All meals and lodging are provided by Worley while the employee is on location. Transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided.Worley offers a competitive benefits package, with company paid short-term disability, life insurance, and 4.5% employer match on 401k.Job Purpose:The Instrument Technician supports the Electrical and Instrumentation Team by installing, maintaining, calibrating, and adjusting instrumentation and instrument loop components, such as pipe, fittings, tubing, valves, and instruments.The position is located on the North Slope and requires a rotational work schedule. Relocation assistance to Alaska is not provided; however, transportation between Anchorage and Prudhoe Bay is provided. Room and meals are provided while in Prudhoe Bay.Essential Job Functions:Calibrates, tests, troubleshoots, and repairs various devices and control loops (pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic analog and digital devices involving the pneumatic, hydraulic, and electronic analog and temperature and flow of devices fluids found within the petroleum industry).Troubleshoots and maintains relay logic systems, PLCs, turbine controls, compressor surge flow totalizing loops, air drying systems, local and remote annunciators, gas/oil fired heaters and re-boilers, and valves of varying designs and manufacturers.Works with tubing and piping fittings from vacuum to high pressures to exceed 5,000 psi, and electrical circuits with potentials up to 50 volts.Uses various types of test equipment.Reads, uses and updates electrical, electronic, piping and instrument drawings and schematics.Provides written and oral documentation of job status.Routinely performs safety and productivity observations; shop, field, and vehicle inspections; and is required to attend various components of technical, developmental and safety training.Must demonstrate support for the company’s environmental management system.Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:Ability to interpret instrumentation, drawings, and schematics.Ability to calibrate, test, troubleshoot and repair various devices and control loops.Ability to troubleshoot and maintain systems and equipment as described in Essential Job Functions section, above.Ability to work with tubing and piping fittings from vacuum to high pressures to exceed 5000 psi and electrical circuits with potentials up to 50 volts.Ability to read, use and update electrical, electronic, piping and instrument drawings and schematics.Must be able to work cooperatively with others and alternate.Must be a self-starter, be able to work independently with minimal supervision, and use sound judgment in making decisions.Knowledge of various facilities across the field.Ability to do instrumentation work on both projects and maintenance.Ability to work as part of a team; communicate effectively with fellow workers and alternate.Ability to demonstrate adherence to established safety policies and procedures.Ability to demonstrate support for the company’s environmental management system.Physical Demands/Work Environment:Work is performed in a remote Arctic environment with limited medical resources. Candidate understands the site is approximately 840 miles (at least 4 hours by air ambulance) from surgical, specialist, and tertiary medical care, and where medical evacuation from this location may be significantly delayed due to weather conditions. The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job. While performing the essential functions of this job, the employee is required to:Must have ability to stand, walk on level, uneven and slippery surfaces, sit, squat, kneel, crawl, reach through low and high ranges, work overhead, and exhibit normal balance and coordination. These basic physical requirements are essential for safe performance of the job in harsh environments with exposure to very cold temperatures and while wearing arctic gear.Standing for prolonged periods of time.Driving for prolonged periods of time in the dark and inclement weather.Ability to climb scaffold, ramps, stairs, equipment, portable ladders, and/or wellhouse/tank/facility fixed ladders of 20 feet or greater.Ability to wear and utilize fall protection within manufacturer specifications.Lift 50 lbs. from floor to waist with two hands.Lift 50 lbs. from floor to shoulder with two hands.Carry 50 lbs. for 15 feet with two hands.Push/pull 60 lbs. sled for 20 feet.Push/pull 90 lbs. cart for 20 feet.This job description is intended to describe the nature and level of work being performed by people assigned to this position. Worley can provide NSTC certification training, if needed.Preferred Qualifications:One (1) year working with remote North Slope operations with demonstrated knowledge of facilities, safety processes, and maintenance procedures.Two (2) years of Instrumentation and Controls experience in an oilfield, petrochemical or industrial setting or an Associate of Applied Science degree in Instrumentation with 1 years’ experience.
