Data Engineer
in support of a USG big data program that Extracts, Transforms, and Loads (ETL) incoming datasets for use by numerous down-stream systems and analysts. The qualified candidate will be part of an Agile team of multi-disciplinary engineers who support an effort to increase the speed of data delivery for structured and unstructured data in the interest and support of national security objectives.RESPONSIBILITIES:Perform assessment of data sets to determine work required to complete the ETL process.Analyze data sets to determine compliance with current data models.Execute the ETL process on periodic and one-time data sets to include conditioning and write out of the modified data sets.Perform O&M of executing data sets to ensure successful completion.Correct minor flaws/bugs preventing successful completion of data set processing.Collaborate with Mission Engineering team in fixing bugs and in delivering new capabilities.QualificationsREQUIREDActive TS/SCI with polygraph clearance.Bachelor’s Degree in data science, computer science, information engineering, or a related subject - OR - four (4) additional years of relevant experience may be substituted in lieu of degree.Experience with big data technologies and platforms, such as Databricks, AWS EMR, and Apache Spark to execute an Extract, Transform, and Load (ETL) mission.Ability to map incoming data sets to the appropriate model.Experience developing required database schemas containing windows, screens, tables and columns and reports that support the database model.Requires experience using and creating SQL to include creating/querying tables, joining tables, and extracting data across multiple data sets.Able to code in Python, PySpark, and Java.Experience with Apache NiFi.Able to write data sets to AWS S3 storage.Able to identify technical problems and develop software updates and fixes.Experience with Agile tools, such as JIRA, Confluence, Jenkins, and GitHub.Must be a creative problem solver with critical thinking skills.
