Project Engineer

We are seeking a highly skilled Project Engineer to join our team in a dynamic work environment. This role focuses on managing multiple projects using the APQP methodology, developing robust product designs, and ensuring integration of engineering requirements into the production process. The ideal candidate will bring a strong background in mechanical engineering and a passion for innovation and problem-solving in designing automotive components. As a key liaison with our customers and internal teams, this role is crucial for maintaining product integrity and achieving customer satisfaction through rigorous engineering standards and practices.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Project Management of multiple projects using APQP methodology.

Schedule and lead APQP meetings internally with cross-functional teams.

Act as the primary customer contact for Designers, Product Design Engineers, and Engineering Supervisors.

Establish customer requirements/expectations including service, performance, weight, and homologation requirements.

Conduct weight analysis using solid modeling tools such as Catia, NX, or Inventor.

Perform stress analysis, both classical and FEA including Linear Static, Nonlinear, and Fatigue analysis.

Create and develop 2D and 3D drawings and models for customers using various CAD systems.

Engage in material specification and tolerance stack-up analysis.

Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers to review product PFMEAs.

Develop test specifications and DVP&Rs in accordance with customer requirements.

Use problem-solving methodologies such as 8D and conduct Design of Experiments as needed.

Develop and maintain project timelines and Gantt Charts.

Maintain continuous improvement and risk assessment in project management processes.

Minimum Position Qualifications:

Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering (BSME) or related field such as Automotive Engineering.

Strong proficiency in CAD software including Catia, Autodesk Simulation Mechanical, AutoCAD, NX, or Inventor.

Proven ability to lead projects and manage timelines efficiently.

Excellent communication skills for interfacing with customers and cross-functional teams.

Ability to resolve warranty and customer issues related to engineering specifications.

New graduates are welcome, but practical experience in a similar role is advantageous.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

Over 5 years of experience in automotive engineering or a related industry.

Experience with FEA tools and a strong understanding of structural analysis.

Project management certifications such as PMP.

Experience in research and development and ability to innovate and improve product designs.

Skills:

Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills.

Strong organizational skills with attention to detail.

Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously under tight deadlines.

Strong technical writing skills for creating clear and comprehensive technical documentation.

Proficient in the use of project management software and tools.
