Summary Objective

The purpose of this position is to coordinate with developers in communicating and identifying information systems architecture, development processes, and methodology for new enhancements and developments. Lead system design activities or reviews system designs to ensure that applications solutions will exhibit high levels of performance, security, scalability, maintainability, appropriate reusability, and reliability upon deployment.

This class works under administrative supervision, developing and implementing programs within organizational policies and reports major activities to executive level administrators through conferences and reports.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSThe essential functions listed below are those that represent the majority of the time spent working in this class. Management may assign additional functions related to the type of work of the class as necessary.Coordinates, assigns and reviews work and establishes work schedules; maintains standards; monitors status of work in progress; inspects completed work assignments; answers questions; gives advice and direction as needed.Directs work assigned to information systems architecture functions including web design and database administration.Analyzes, designs, programs, unit tests, mentors developers and ensures work is well documented.Develops, enhances, troubleshoots, and maintains custom web-based applications and web services.Meets with clients to gather information systems requirements and discuss solution options.Supports and analyzes current custom applications including performance, diagnosis, and troubleshooting of issues, and designs solutions to resolve issues.Utilizes debugging tools to resolve application issues.Develops web services according to information system design.Estimates project timelines and schedules.Develops custom queries and stored procedures to support data extraction and detailed data analysis.Works in close coordination with IT team members to ensure efficient operation of the department.Serves as backup to other technology team members.Performs related work as assigned.MINIMUM EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE REQUIREMENTSBachelor’s Degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related discipline.Five (5) years of hands-on application development, maintenance, and troubleshooting experience or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.OTHER MINIMUM REQUIREMENTSMust submit to fingerprinting for criminal history check.Must complete the annual security awareness training.Must work a varied schedule.PHYSICAL DEMANDSPhysical demands refer to the requirements for physical exertion and coordination of limb and body movement.Performs sedentary work that involves walking or standing some of the time and involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force on a regular and recurring basis or sustained keyboard operations.UNAVOIDABLE HAZARDS (WORK ENVIRONMENT)Unavoidable hazards refer to the job conditions that may lead to injury or health hazards even though precautions have been taken.None.AMERICANS WITH DISABILITIES ACT COMPLIANCELouisville Metro Government is an Equal Opportunity Employer.
