The purpose of the position is to perform electrical maintenance and repairs, plan and participate in technical electrical preventive maintenance work, schedule projects and repair work orders, coordinate and conduct staff training on minor electrical work and safety, write electrical scopes of work for contractors, supervise and inspect work of electrical contractors and other employees performing electrical work. Employees in this classification perform commercial electrical work at a Florida Registered Electrician license (ER) master level within Osceola County and are accountable for ensuring all work is performed in compliance with the latest edition of the Florida Building Code (FBC), National Electrical Code (NEC), National Fire Protection Association (NFPA) and all other applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements. The omission of an essential function does not preclude management from assigning duties not listed herein if such functions are a logical assignment to the position.Performs Florida Registered Electrician license (ER) master level electrical work, training, equipment installation, preventive maintenance services, troubleshoots systems, performs hands-on on Master level electrical field work for projects, repairs and services in County owned facilities on a regular basis to ensure optimal operating condition and safety.Ensures that all County generators and transfer switches are functioning properly and ready for immediate use.Monitors Commercial Photovoltaic Solar Power Systems for performance efficiency, maintenance, and repair.Pulls Permits and estimates material, time, and labor requirements for projects.Ensures all work is performed in compliance with all applicable electrical codes, standards, and regulatory requirements.Reads, interprets and/or utilizes blueprints, drawings, diagrams, and technical/electrical manuals.Maintain records and reports, e.g., project records, Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) / Maximo, parts inventory, supply lists, work orders.Coordinates with contracted vendors and suppliers, as well as third party contractors on projects to ensure safety, efficiency, and time savings.Manage training and mentorship programs for department employees.Perform labor-intensive work which may include exposure to confined areas, extreme weather, fumes, chemicals, and/or loud noises. Responds to on-call and after-hours emergency situations. Minimum QualificationsEducation: High School Diploma or GEDExperience: Three (3) years electrical work experience at the Master Electrician or equivalent level.Miscellaneous: Must possess valid State of Florida Registered Electrician license (ER) at a master level or Florida Certified Electrical Contractor (EC) Electrician license.Must possess a valid Florida Driver's License. Knowledge, Skills and Abilities Ability to effectively lead, guide and train others in applicable procedures and techniques.Skill in troubleshooting electrical systems. Knowledgeable of all functions relevant to the electrical operation of facilities and equipmentKnowledgeable of the standard practices, methods, tools, codes, and materials of the electrical trade. Ability to use tools, materials and equipment common to the trade.Ability to read and interpret sketches, blueprints, schematics, wiring diagrams and equipment manufacturer's cut sheets. Must have a working knowledge of administrative office equipment and systems, such as Microsoft office applications, work order software systems (i.e.: Maximo), laptops, computers, and tablets.Knowledgeable of current codes and regulatory standards.Knowledgeable of permitting processes and ability to obtain a permits when necessary from Osceola County Building Department, Kissimmee Building Department, and St. Cloud Building Department. Skill in providing electrical plans oversight and recommend/develop modifications as necessary to ensure overall project compliance with applicable codes and regulatory standards.Assist in completing forms, correspondence, reports, work orders, diagnostic reports, electrical shop drawings, statistical analyses, and other documents.Good communication skills for working with coworkers and County departments/agencies.Must have the ability to drive County owned vehicles (service vans and box trucks) throughout all of Osceola County.PHYSICAL DEMAND REQUIREMENTS:Physical Demand: Medium50 pounds maximum lifting.Frequent (up to 2/3 of the work time) walking, standing, bending, climbing ladders, and stooping and some lifting and carrying objects of light to moderate weight (20-50 pounds).Expressing or exchanging ideas by spoken word or perceiving sound by ear.Good eyesight for production or safety of self and others.Osceola County offers a comprehensive benefits package to fit the needs of our employees and their families.
