Job SummaryUnder the supervision of the Senior Vice President of Accounting, the
Director of Financial Reporting
directs and oversees the preparation and distribution of all external financial reporting documents and related SEC filings. Ensures that reports, filings and documentation complies with company's regulations, professional standards, and SEC and GAAP reporting guidelines. The Director of Financial Reporting oversees technical accounting research related to new and proposed accounting standards, advises management of trends and changes in reporting requirements and recommends best approach for any changes in reporting. Additionally, this position supports and assists with the implementation, maintenance and review of internal controls and corporate policies and procedures.Financial Reporting Management- 80%Responsible for the preparation of quarterly reports (10-Q), annual reports (10-K) and current reports (8-K) and supporting schedules.Interfaces with external auditors.Assists in preparation of the monthly and quarterly management reporting package and review of financial information included in the package.Prepares disclosure checklist.Assists in ensuring compliance with U.S. GAAP reporting requirements; assists in the implementation of new accounting pronouncements.Acts as a technical accounting resource by assisting with researching, resolving and documenting accounting issues that arise during the quarter.Leads financial research efforts. Analyzes, researches and concludes on new and proposed accounting, reporting and disclosure standards issued by the SEC, PCAOB, FASB, and other regulatory agencies and prepares memorandums regarding the Companys position and impact on the Company.Supervision 20%Effectively supervises and manages direct reports and provides, by example and leadership, motivation and direction to employees of the organization.Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring, and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; recognizing and rewarding employees; corrective disciplinary procedures and practices (under direction of supervisor and in partnership with Human Resources), addressing complaints and resolving problems.Ensures annual employee performance reviews are conducted in a timely and effective manner. Evaluates performance of employees for compliance with established policies and objectives of the organization and contributions in attaining objectives.Helps set the tone of the department to ensure morale, team work, and that the positive employment culture of the organization is maintained.Regularly schedules leadership/management, department, and staff 1:1 meetings to provide leadership, development, and a forum for communication to ensure coordination and collaboration in meeting organization and individual goals.TravelTravel required at 10% of the time.Overnight travel out of stateQualificationsTo perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily. Must have strong work ethic and be able to meet critical deadlines.Strong analytical and problem solving skills, including the ability to research and interpret accounting guidance and draft accounting memos to support conclusions.Ability to work independently and well under stress and changing priorities and deadlines.Strong written and verbal communications skills.Excellent team player who can work effectively with cross-functional teams.Proficiency in Word, Excel and PowerPoint required.Strong management skills and at least three years of experience in supervising staff.The pay offered for the position will take into consideration the candidates geographic region, job-related knowledge, skills, experience, and internal equity, among other factors.
