Intern - R&D Engineer

The R&D Engineer Intern will perform original design and testing over a broad range of technologies to provide new or improved products to the medical device market in the arena of Interventional Urology. This person will act as technical support for interdepartmental development teams to fulfill business goals of Coloplast for new and existing research and development projects. Exact dates depend on school calendars.
Major Areas of Accountability:
Specify, design, verify and validate devices in accordance with applicable medical regulatory standardsPerform original design, under guidance of project engineers/scientists, developing design specifications, conduct DOEs, verification protocols/reports and other associated documentation following design control requirementsParticipate in hands-on problem solving and resolutionCreate and maintain good records of lab work and test results related to assigned projectsColoplast employees are required to conduct business to the highest ethical and professional standards; comply with applicable laws and regulations, the Advamed Code of Ethics on Interactions with Healthcare Professionals, and company policies.
Basic Qualifications:
Pursuing a 4-year or graduate degree in Mechanical, Biomedical, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalentUndergraduate student (completed sophomore level or higher) or Graduate student with successful completion of basic engineering course work.Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook3D modeling software (SolidWorks or related CAD software) experience is preferredAble to develop test protocols and synthesize data to write test reports based on observed data, relevant test standards and general engineering knowledgeFamiliarity with statistical analysis (e.g. two-sample t-test, tolerance limit calculation)Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of basic engineering concepts and principlesAbility to work independently and to be a technical assist on group projectsAbility to take verbal instructions and translate them into goals and objectivesGood written and verbal communicationPro-active; high-performance and results orientation
