Position Summary:
This role is responsible for managing procurement for assigned mode(s) within the global transportation network. This position has direct communication with 3rd party transportation partners for all aspects of RFPs, negotiations, and contract process for new or renewed contracts and will be responsible to maintain the portfolio of existing contracts. There will be frequent interaction with cross-functional partners to inform procurement strategy, facilitate project work and outline financial impacts.

Job Responsibilities:
•Develop Procurement Strategy & Execution Plan for Assigned Mode(s)
•Administer and lead RFP process for Assigned Mode(s)
•Support contract negotiations for Assigned mode(s)
•Manage & maintain carrier contracts including post bid cycle, annual PSS / GRI, as needed
•Create, develop, and maintain relationships and active communications between VS&CO leadership and transportation network partners
•Benchmark and analyze current options and potential new carriers and services to enhance the customer experience through future delivery or execution options
•Routinely provide industry updates and market intelligence to facilitate proactive planning and execution
•Collaborate with internal and external partners to analyze impacts of rates and to develop network recommendations
•Act as a subject matter expert on behalf of the Transportation strategy group for assigned mode(s)
•Build and update carrier roadmap to plan short- and long-term procurement strategy for assigned mode(s).Ability to communicate and influence multiple levels of VS&Co leadership.
•Effectively utilize technology to optimize the network through analysis
•Leverage analytics, network reporting and service provider performance to improve network and process

Job Qualifications:
•5-6+ years logistics-supply chain experience,
•College Graduate with a degree in Business Management, Transportation, Logistics, Statistics/Mathematics, or another relevant business discipline preferred.
•Working knowledge of carrier networks & transportation contracts
•Experience within carrier networks (regional, national, & postal consolidators) preferred
•Strong analytical skills with ability to compute large amounts of data
•High level of proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Access, and SQL
•Self-motivated and self-directed
•Change agent with an innovative and entrepreneurial spirit
•Demonstrated problem solving and decision-making skills
•Operates successfully within a team/matrix focused organization to achieve desired outcomes
•Interacts effectively with all levels of internal and external organizations, suppliers, and customers
•Possesses strong project management, organizational, and communication skills
•Working knowledge and experience with technology and systems applications to support transportation and logistics operations and information requirements (Excel, Access, and Transportation Management Systems).
•Ability to travel up to 10%
