POSITION SUMMARY:
Under the direction of the Senior Executive Director Membership Experience, the Executive Director of Swim is responsible for providing cause-driven management and operations focused around Swim programs and operations. This position will include associate supervision, fiscal control, program development, program area facility management/maintenance, program optimization and fulfillment, and volunteer development. The Executive Director is also responsible for hiring, scheduling, training, supervising, and leading their associate team in superior levels of member service and engagement. This position also provides general oversight of the Y in Central Maryland Swim Team (Blue Crabs).
ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:
Recruit, hire, train, jointly supervise, support, and retain talented leaders in the swim and family experience teams. Developing training plan for all full time, part time and exempt leaders and ongoing development programs to build depth in swim operations.Plan, develop, and execute Swim lesson programing within Association guidelines and curriculumFocus on quality experiences and engagement within programs, services, and activitiesFoster an environment that is positive and motivating to families, children, and peers.Exceed revenue and/or utilization goals and work within assigned expense budget in all areas of responsibility and participate in the budget process as assignedEffectively coordinate facility usage for assigned programs and communicate with center associates.Plan, develop, direct and monitor an effective system of communication with center leadership and management associates regarding progress, plans and problemsEnsure high quality programs through innovative program development and participant/member feedback.Implement Association best practices and policies as it relates to operations including purchasing, payroll, reporting, business management, record keepingAttend and actively participate in all meetings as assignedIncorporate the four character values of the Y: Caring, Honesty, Respect, and Responsibility and adhere to the Y Code of ConductCommunicate the Y mission and objectives to the community.All other duties as assigned.QUALIFICATIONS:
EDUCATION
A bachelor's degree in a child related field or Sports Management/ Recreation/Health Sciences, or equivalent experienceCurrent CPR/AED/O2/First Aid certificationCurrent Lifeguard and Pool Operator CertificationEXPERIENCE
Five or more years of supervisory, program development, instruction experience in sports, teen, and/or youth programming in a 2,500+ unit YMCA or equivalent.Experience acquiring, developing, and implementing off site programs (beyond the Y facility)A minimum of 2 years supervisory experienceSKILLS
Proficient computer skillsAbility to work flexible schedules to included working nights and weekends regularly
