Senior Accountant

LHH is looking for a full-time Senior Accountant to join our client growing company in Seattle, WA. This position will be a 8-month contract that is fully onsite at the client location.
Key Responsibilities:
Prepare and review financial statements (balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow statements) in compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP).
Lead the month-end and year-end closing process, including reconciliations of general ledger accounts and preparation of journal entries.
Perform variance analysis on financial statements and provide recommendations to management for process improvements or cost-saving opportunities.
Oversee accounts payable, accounts receivable, and payroll functions, ensuring accurate and timely processing.
Ensure compliance with tax laws by preparing and filing corporate, payroll, and sales tax returns.
Assist with budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes, providing analysis and input for long-term business strategies.
Manage audits, both internal and external, by coordinating with auditors, preparing audit schedules, and providing necessary financial data.
Monitor internal controls to ensure efficiency and compliance with company policies and accounting standards.
Oversee fixed asset management, including tracking, depreciation schedules, and capital expenditures.
Prepare and submit regulatory reports in compliance with local, state, and federal requirements.
Train, mentor, and supervise junior accountants, providing guidance on accounting best practices.
Collaborate with other departments to streamline financial processes and improve cross-functional communication.
Qualifications:
Bachelors degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field (CPA or CMA certification preferred).
Minimum of 5 years of experience in accounting, with a focus on financial reporting, general ledger management, and tax compliance.
Strong knowledge of GAAP and financial reporting standards.
Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Oracle, SAP, or similar) and advanced Excel skills.
Experience with preparing tax filings, financial analysis, and audit processes.
Excellent analytical, organizational, and time-management skills, with a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Strong written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to explain complex financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple priorities and deadlines.
Preferred Skills:
CPA or CMA certification highly preferred.
Experience in specific industry accounting (e.g., manufacturing, retail, or nonprofit).
Familiarity with financial forecasting, budgeting, and variance analysis.
Compensation:
Up to $40/hour DOE
