Position SummaryThis position will be responsible for the coordination, execution, and maintenance of multiple clinical trials examining pulmonary vascular disease and pulmonary hypertension under the Principal Investigator, Dr. Dustin Fraidenburg.
Duties & ResponsibilitiesThis position contributes to the design and delivery of clinical research projects and collaborates with the researcher(s) to develop, execute and interpret clinical research projects. He/she coordinates the implementation, quality control and completion of research endeavors while assisting the Principal Investigator and clinical research staff in determining and accomplishing study objectives. This position includes all responsibilities associated with the coordination of a clinical research trial. The Clinical Research Coordinator prepares all documents necessary to conduct study visits including flow-sheets, patient information handouts, patient study visit case report forms, and research participant binders. He/she also performs paper and electronic data entry, assists the research team in developing and implementing recruitment and retention plans, screens electronic medical records and contacts participants by telephone to assess eligibility, conducts study visits and may perform pulmonary specific procedures (spirometry, 6-minute walk test, methacholine challenge, etc.) as specified in the protocol. The Research Coordinator will also be responsible for performing outcomes assessment measures for designated protocols which may be completed via telephone or by conducting a home visit._ The Clinical Research Coordinator will work with other members of the research team to initiate clinical trials which may involve working with the Office of Research Services and Investigational Drug Service (IDS) personnel. The Clinical Research Coordinator may also be responsible for completing Institutional Review Board (IRB) material for the clinical trials including initial IRB submissions, amendments to the research and continuing reviews, as well as other various assignments on behalf of the research program.
Perform other related duties and participate in special projects as assigned.
Qualifications:A minimum of a Bachelor's degree required; in science preferred.At least one year experience in a research discipline required. Experience in a clinical research setting, experience working with Federal Regulations and IRB's required.Prior experience with medical terminology and procedures including electronic medical records and billing preferred.Ability to manage multiple tasks. Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.Requires excellent communication, organization, presentation and computer/pc skills.Proficiency in Microsoft Office and other related software.Knowledge of research protocols, principles and procedures; knowledge of aspects of clinical trials such as screening, interviewing, case reports forms; knowledge ofexperimental design, mathematics, statistics, computer applications and computer data management; oral and written communication skills; knowledge of a sciencesuch as biology or psychology; ability to identify, produce, organize, evaluate and interpret data; knowledge of ethics and regulatory procedures (i.e. informed consent, IRB applications, data safety and monitoring plans) involved with clinical trials and other clinical research; ability to work as a member of a project team; knowledge of clinical tasks required for research (e.g. phlebotomy, centrifugation, interviewing).
