Your success is our success.JOB SUMMARY:The Flight Dynamics Software Engineer is a highly motivated and self-driven team player that can perform in a dynamic prototyping environment. This role is responsible for design, development, integration, test, and documentation for software in flight simulator dynamic models on a wide range of aviation platforms.JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:Design, develop, integrate, test, and document flight simulator software for flight dynamics modelsDevelop Qualification Test Guide tests and documentation to validate flight dynamics modelsParticipate in customer acceptance and regulatory qualification of flight simulator training devicesStay current with flight simulation industry regulations (FAA, EASA, ICAO)Work closely with engineers of varying disciplines and aircraft subject matter experts to meet or exceed flight simulator training device requirementsRecommend, incorporate, and/or alter new and existing simulator designs and documentationPerform hardware/software integration & testing on flight simulator training devicesProvide engineering staff with recommendations for software/hardware enhancementsResearch and analyze data, such as customer design proposals, specifications, and manuals to determine feasibility of design or applicationEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE:Bachelor’s degree required in Aeronautical/Aerospace Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or related fieldMinimum 2 years of experience with developing/integrating flight dynamic models and creating Qualification Test Guides (QTGs) in the flight simulation industry requiredQUALIFICATIONS:Understanding of longitudinal and lateral-directional flight dynamics including aircraft performance, six degree of freedom forces/moments, stability/control derivativesKnowledge of aircraft systems, specifically propulsion, flight controls, and ground reaction forcesExperience integrating/testing aircraft OEM aerodynamic models preferredFixed-wing flight dynamics and flight simulation industry experience preferredProficiency with C/C++, Python, Linux/Unix, and Shell scripting is a plusGeneral piloting knowledge is a plusFlight testing experience is a plusExceptional problem solving and troubleshooting skillsStrong work ethic and attention to detailExcellent verbal and written communication skillsProfessional and diplomatic demeanorStrong sense of accountability and integrityAbility to work independently and in a team environmentAbility to travel for up to 25% annuallyThe above statements are intended to describe the general nature and level of work being performed by employees assigned to this job.
