EDW/DW INFRASTRUCTURE ARCHITECT

Job Responsibilities:
Creating and maintaining standards, guidelines, and operating procedures for database objects and code promotion.As a Reviewer:Participate in EDW project design reviews.Review PDM and recommend changes with performance and storage best practices in mind.Review security considerations and security exceptions.Question impact analysis on shared objects.
Support ongoing EDW projects:Initial database setup guidelines (requests for schema, role, table spaces).Process for physical data model deployment/changes.Co-ordinate code promotion with the appropriate support groups.
Coordination with external teams:With Apps and Ops DBA teams in case of issues, backup/restore, and day-to-day activities.With Oracle support for any service requests with the help of Apps DBA Team.With the Ops Unix teams in case of infrastructure (server and OS) related issues and day-to-day activities.
Database and infrastructure capacity planning for future projects within the EDW program.Co-ordination with the external teams to arrange the needed capacity.Work closely with the Business Intelligence and Data Warehousing organizations in identifying and planning the infrastructure optimization for lower cost and higher performance.Work towards continuous improvement of project processes, performance, manual activities, etc.Co-ordinate with the CEA team to align EDW technology stack to the tools and technology roadmap.Work with the CEA and CBS teams on pilot/proof of concept projects related to infrastructure and tools changes impacting EDW.Interact with the Project Manager and business users on a day-to-day basis and develop a detailed understanding of operational issues to meet the requirements.Required Skills:9-10 years of IT experience.Strong knowledge of Oracle Database Architecture and Design from DW/EDW aspect.Experience in different types of BI/DW projects like Development, Support, Enhancements, and Admin experience/knowledge related to software/tools (such as ETL, OBIEE, Appworx, etc.).Experience with Solaris, Linux, and RAC.Exposure/experience in aspects of data modeling; experience in Erwin will be an added advantage.Experience in architecture, design, and implementation of large-scale data warehouses.Extensive knowledge of application-to-application interaction.Some exposure to data warehouse performance optimization concepts.Good Unix shell scripting skills.
