Duties and Responsibilities

The Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles is seeking a Senior Data Base Analyst (Couchbase/SQL Server/Oracle) to join our Technology team! This position will also be the team lead over our new Couch Base database system, as well as UNIX and Linux systems. As a Senior Data Base Analyst, you will be responsible for the design, implementation, and ongoing maintenance of all database instances and objects on multiple platform environments, including the release process for system and schema changes. You will also perform database query analysis, performance optimization, and coordination of stored procedures while maintaining an appropriate database access layer. Additionally, you will be responsible for database performance, scalability, auditing, replication, and database reporting. This position requires exceptional technical, analytical, and collaboration skills. The successful candidate must have the ability to communicate effectively, precisely, and accurately across all levels of the organization.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

Knowledge of the software development lifecycle process.

Knowledge of Windows scripting.

Knowledge of UNIX scripting.

Knowledge of LINUX systems.

Knowledge of Couchbase systems.

Knowledge of data privacy and protection initiatives.

Skills in MS SQL Server database administration.

Skills in Oracle 10g/11g/12c/19c database administration.

Skills as a MS SQL developer.

Skills in creating procedures.

Skills in supporting SQL Server data replication and validation.

Ability to effectively diagnose, isolate, and resolve complex problems pertaining to data infrastructure.

Ability to write SQL, Stored Procedures, Functions, and Database Triggers.

Ability to tune SQL and TSQL performance.

Ability to effectively communicate technical data processing information verbally and in writing.

Operational support skills, including experience with system installations, migrations, and upgrades.

Practical experience in monitoring and tuning a database to provide a high availability service.

Preferred Qualifications

Preference will be given to applicants with the following:

Professional work experience in database development, design, and administration.

Professional experience developing in T-SQL, PL/SQL, Linux, and UNIX languages.

Professional work experience assisting application/web development teams and business area customers in the design and development of solutions.

Experience with Data Warehousing and concepts.

Job Related Requirements

This position includes a regularly assigned (approximately one week a month) 24-7 on-call requirement.

The position you are applying for is subject to a Level 2 background check, along with Criminal Justice Information System (CJIS) clearance, to include a fingerprint-based check of the criminal records of the FBI, as a condition of employment pursuant to Chapter 110.1127, 435 and 943, Florida Statutes.

General Information

The elements of the selection process may include a skill assessment and/or oral interview.

FLHSMV employees are paid once a month on the last workday of each month. All state employees are required to participate in the direct deposit program pursuant to s. 110.113 Florida Statutes.
