Project Engineer

On behalf of a client in the engineering industry, we are seeking a skilled Project Engineer with strong project management experience to manage capital outlay projects from inception through completion. The ideal candidate will have a background in engineering, a proven track record of overseeing large-scale projects, and experience collaborating with diverse stakeholders, including designers, contractors, and state and non-state programs. This is a full-time position based in Shreveport, Louisiana.
The project manager will work closely with facility planning and control project managers to provide functional oversight of contracted designers, contractors, and professional consultants for state and non-state programs, with direction from a higher-level administrator.
Key responsibilities include but are not limited to the following:
Manage all phases of engineering and construction projects, including planning, design, execution, monitoring, and closure.Collaborate closely with internal and external stakeholders, including architects, contractors, and government agencies, to ensure project alignment with specifications and timelines.Oversee project schedules, budgets, and quality control to ensure project goals are achieved on time and within scope.Provide functional oversight of design and engineering teams, ensuring compliance with relevant codes and standards.Conduct project reviews and risk assessments, identifying potential issues and implementing mitigation strategies.Maintain up-to-date documentation and reporting for all projects, ensuring accurate tracking of progress and resources.Support contract management and procurement processes, ensuring all contractual obligations are met.Coordinate with regulatory bodies to ensure project compliance with local, state, and federal regulations.Minimum qualifications include:
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Electrical, or related field) required.At least three years of project management experience in an engineering or construction-related environment.Strong understanding of engineering principles and practices, with the ability to apply technical expertise to project management.Proven experience managing capital outlay projects, from design through warranty.Knowledge of applicable regulatory requirements, standards, and best practices.Excellent problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.Proficiency in project management software (e.g., MS Project, Primavera) and engineering tools.PMP certification or similar project management certification is a plus but not required.Strong communication and leadership skills, with the ability to guide multidisciplinary teams.Emergent Method and associated entities are equal opportunity employers.
