Overview
Transform technology into opportunities as a Linux Systems Administrator. This role focuses on enhancing and connecting critical systems within a government program IT environment. You will play a key role in improving operational efficiency and effectiveness across various systems and services.
We are looking for a proficient Red Hat Enterprise Linux (RHEL) Administrator to join our team. This role is crucial for maintaining and advancing a range of systems across a critical government program.
Candidates must possess outstanding communication skills, both written and verbal, to ensure timely and appropriate customer follow-up and/or escalation to Microsoft Support.
Essential Responsibilities
Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues related to RHEL platforms.
Create and maintain effective and scalable configuration management practices, services, and baseline configurations for RHEL platforms.
Serve as a primary contact for RHEL platform support concerning application-related systems and services.
Implement, oversee, and audit security configurations, addressing vulnerabilities associated with RHEL platforms and services.
Deploy, configure, and manage patches, updates, and related documentation for RHEL systems.
Work with stakeholders and technical teams to analyze, develop, configure, test, integrate, and maintain RHEL systems.
Conduct needs assessments, gap analyses, and design solutions for RHEL platforms.

Mandatory Qualifications
Advanced problem-solving and critical thinking skills.
Proficiency with the RHEL command line interface.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a team.
Comprehensive understanding of how RHEL platforms interact with external applications, platforms, and services (e.g., Active Directory/LDAP integration, network file service protocols, Active Directory Certificate Services).
Proven experience with Ansible for ad hoc and playbook executions.
Extensive experience in developing and running shell scripts.
Intermediate experience with RHEL 7 and 8 system administration and configuration.
Basic understanding of VMware vSphere 7 (or newer).
Basic knowledge of Windows platforms, services, and applications.
Active Top Secret Clearance with CI Poly.
S. citizenship is required.
Background investigation is required.
Pre-employment drug screening is required as we are a drug and alcohol-free workplace.
Desired Qualifications
Experience with Tenable Security Center + Nessus (ACAS), Trellix ESS (client-side), Puppet, Chef, IdM, git repositories, and other common tools.
Intermediate experience with RHEL 7, 8, and 9 system engineering concepts (e.g., automation, orchestration, strategic planning).
Familiarity with DevSecOps concepts and practices.
Basic knowledge of multifactor authentication configurations for RHEL clients.
Strong work ethic, eagerness to learn, and effective time management and organizational skills.
Work Conditions
The work environment is an office setting. This person must have the physical capacity to sit still for long durations with occasional movement within the office to access files or office equipment. This person must also have the technical skill to arrange an office space using the equipment provided. The person in this position regularly interacts with employees and clients through various modes of communication, such as emails, phone calls, video calls, etc. This person must have the communication skill to convey precise information in these situations.
