Welcome! We at Micron are hiring for a Senior Engineer, Films Equipment Development (R&D). This position will be based out of Boise, ID at our Global R&D headquarters. Relocation assistance is available.

As a Sr. Engineer, your primary responsibility will be to define and advise our Equipment development related BP’s including EMI, TMQ, ECPB, Capital Cycle planning, FOAK Tool performance, and transfer related activities. To employ all vital project controls to meet the development objectives of the EDE Development team. Assist in directing equipment engineers in the development of sophisticated fab tools and diagnostics.

Our team is responsible for setting a strategy for future technology development and engaging with suppliers to develop the toolsets that will enable our Technology Development. We partner with other Technology Development teams, including Process Development, Manufacturing Development, Operations and Planning to develop and facilitate the maturity of next-generation Films tools. Focused on Business Processes, analytics and advancing equipment technology beyond current generations.

In this role, your responsibilities will include but are not limited to:

Communication & Collaboration:

Collaborates strategically with stakeholders to develop solutions to continuously improve critical metrics.

Coordinates with stakeholders and leaders on issues and changes, and provides regular status updates.

Engage with Equipment and Process Development teams to discuss and drive development activities, new technology opportunities and CIP on existing tools.

Build and maintain positive relationships with multiple customers.

Communicate regularly with HVM fabs to help solve equipment issues in manufacturing.

Present/Report on work performed & progress for Equipment related BP’s.

Technical/Data Analysis:

Develop area BP’s based on equipment lifecycle requirements and drive future hardware deliverables.

Drive area resources, allocation, efforts and program to enhance Micron IP.

Provide SME guidance ensuring area alignments and best practices followed.

Partner with global peer network to identify and demonstrate best-known methods where appropriate.

Drive a model-based problem-solving culture within the team to ensure root causes are identified.

Serve as a key expert for technical support and interface HVM sites.

Project Management/Planning:

Uses a detailed project management methodology to develop, prioritize and manage projects.

Manage strategic and tactical aspects of equipment engineering, including tool evaluation and tool installs/de-installs (plans, resources and timelines).

Manages projects to ensure deliverables are completed within the required scope, schedule and budget.

Set the strategy for tracking the development and maturity of F.O.A.K. equipment (first of a kind) within the ‘Equipment Maturity Index’ (EMI) framework.

Partners with key stakeholders to identify gaps and opportunities for efficiencies.

Work with area managers to coordinate workloads/requests with ID1.

Manage the needs of multiple customers to set priorities for your deliverables.

Collaborate with Area Management on capital asset planning and budget management.

Qualifications:

Minimum five years equipment development experience at Micron or equivalent experience at another company.

In-depth knowledge of Films systems and methods of deposition hardware.

Project management and organization skills, including attention to details.

Positive relationship building skills, both with internal and external customers.

Demonstrate problem solving, analytical skills and report results.

Consistent record to drive sophisticated projects to completion.

Ability to seek opportunities for continuous improvement, as a team member, leader and for the organization.
