Working on a Scrum team of Product Owners, Software Engineers, and Quality Assurance Engineers, you will contribute to the modernization and re-architecture of the systems that drive value for our clients.What you’ll be doingDesign, develop, maintain and improve software and other technical solutions that solve business challengesPlay a key role in redesigning our monolithic legacy products in AWSMentor team members on software engineering best practicesFocus on overall product qualityDevelop and maintain unit and integration testsResponsibly self-manage workload given project priorities, deadlines and deliverablesHelp the team achieve sprint goals through independent work and collaborationParticipate in code reviews to promote quality and best practicesWhat we need10+ years of relevant experienceExtensive Cloud development experience with AWSExperience rebuilding on-prem legacy applications in a modern cloud environment (AWS)Understanding of Agile practices (e.g. Scrum)Experience with full software development lifecycleExcellent technical design, problem solving, and debugging skillsExperience with domain driven designExperience with microservice architectureExperience with event-driven architectureExperience with writing testable code, unit tests, integration tests, etc.Passionate about building high-quality systems with AWS best practicesExcellent collaborative skills, work well independently and as a team memberProven analytical skills to interpret and implement business and functional requirementsUnderstanding of the value of test automation and a desire to incorporate it in development practiceWhat you bring to the tableProactive and positive approach to solving problems, and correcting issuesFacilitate collaboration among team membersDemonstrated “let’s find a way to do it” attitude – no task is too big or too small, always willing to pitch in and help someone elseDetail orientedWelcomes increased responsibility over timeLoves to learn, takes every opportunity they’re given to develop knowledge and skillsAdapts to an established process, able to move projects along in a timeframeWish listContinued education and/or advanced degree(s)Experience in environments subject to HIPAA and/or PCI regulationsExperience in software-as-a-service, actuarial science and/or insurance underwriting industryCertified Scrum Developer (CSD)AWS CertificationsUnderstanding of DevOps principlesExperience with test driven developmentExperience designing systems in an event-driven architectureLocationThe expected application deadline for this job is November 22, 2024.This position will be based out of the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI; however, candidates hired into this role may work remotely anywhere in the U.S. Applicants must be willing to travel to the Milliman office in Brookfield, WI for quarterly PI Planning meetings.The salary range for this position is $107,000 - $217,000 depending on a combination of factors, including but not limited to education, relevant work experience, qualifications, certifications, location, etc.At Milliman, we focus on creating an environment that recognizes – and meets – the personal and professional needs of the individual and their family.
