Tesla's Cell Manufacturing Engineering group is looking for a highly motivated individual to technical program manage an exciting new manufacturing engineering project. This is a cross-functional role that requires coordination between many different groups within and outside of Tesla. You will drive the development and deployment of new internal manufacturing lines, while also managing the ramp of development lines.You will drive manufacturing projects from concept through design, install, integration, ramp, and handover to production. You will use your technical engineering background to understand the line, equipment, process, and product requirements; technical risks; and strategy for deployment and ramp; and use these to define the manufacturing program plan. You will communicate and present project status, highlight schedule risk, and develop recovery plans in the event of a project slip.
Responsibilities
Drive project from concept through handover to production, acting as single point of contactDefine manufacturing program plans, outlining strategy, scope, schedule, resource requirements, and cost targetsWork with manufacturing engineering and cross-functional teams to drive the manufacturing program towards the planSet goals, track deliverables, identify risk and drive mitigations across all stages of the projectCreate, maintain, communicate, and present schedules for manufacturing engineering projects to the engineering leadership teamDefine and drive tasks to be performed by the cross-functional team. Prioritize team project work based on schedule, risk, resources, and payback. Track status of projects and action items against the scheduleIdentify creative ways to overcome obstacles and meet the schedule despite setbacksDrive review, selection, budget and schedule of external equipment automation vendors and integrators for delivery of selected manufacturing project scopeWork collaboratively with all engineering stakeholders (project engineering, design, manufacturing, process, metrology, controls, software etc.) through the various stages of the projectRequirements
Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering, or equivalent experience5+ years of experience working in a product development or manufacturing environment, in a mix of engineering and project management rolesDemonstrated experience in the management of engineering projects for mass-produced productsAbility to comprehend complex problems and break them down into manageable, clearly understood work streamsDemonstrated experience creating, maintaining, and communicating schedulesAbility to work cross-functionally and manage large teamsProven ability to operate under pressure while managing multiple priorities simultaneouslyExperience with JIRA, Microsoft Project, Confluence, Wrike, and other project management toolsAvailability for travel domestic/international as required, sometimes multiple weeks at a timeKnowledge and understanding of Battery Cell technology a plusCompensation and BenefitsBenefits
