In this role, you will manage our Financial Lines portfolio, leveraging your deep understanding of the financial lines insurance market, strong underwriting expertise, and proven track record of driving business growth and operational excellence.
Key Responsibilities:
Strategic Leadership:
* Develop and implement technical expertise, training, and profitability strategies for various segments of the financial lines underwriting team.* Identify market trends, opportunities, and threats to inform underwriting strategy.* Develop and maintain underwriting guidelines, rating plans, and appetite strategies to deliver long-term profitable growth for financial lines products.* Collaborate with senior management to align the division's goals with the overall company objectives.
Underwriting Excellence:
* Oversee the underwriting of financial lines policies to ensure profitability and manage risk.* Develop and implement underwriting guidelines, policies, and procedures.* Ensure adherence to underwriting best practices and regulatory requirements.
Business Development:
* Support the development of new financial lines products and services tailored to client needs.* Build and maintain strong relationships with brokers, clients, and other key stakeholders.* Collaborate with the sales and marketing teams to develop and execute strategies to drive growth.
Operational Management:
* Ensure efficient and effective operations within the financial lines underwriting division.* Implement best practices and continuous improvement initiatives.* Monitor and analyze underwriting performance metrics to drive operational excellence.
Risk Management:
* Oversee the assessment and management of risks associated with professional liability products.* Ensure compliance with regulatory requirements and industry standards.* Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies.
Qualifications:
* Bachelor's degree in Business, Finance, Insurance, or a related field; advanced degree preferred.* Minimum of 5-7 years of experience in the financial lines insurance industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role focused on underwriting.* Proven track record of developing and executing successful underwriting strategies.* Strong understanding of underwriting principles and risk management.* Excellent leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills.* Ability to build and maintain strong relationships with clients, brokers, and team members.* Strategic thinker with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.* Proficiency in financial management and budgeting.
