The Financial Reporting & Systems Unit has an opening for an Insurance Accounting Manager to manage a team of senior accounting analysts. The team is responsible for carrying out tasks to complete the regular monthly financial close process ensuring that the financial statements are prepared in conformity with accounting practices prescribed or permitted by the California Department of Insurance with appropriate internal controls.
Under the direction of the Senior Insurance Accounting Manager, the incumbent will:
• Coordinate and ensure the accurate and timely reporting of State Fund's financial information in conformity with accounting practices prescribed or permitted by the California Department of Insurance or the State Controller's Office, and in accordance with Statements of Statutory Accounting Principles (SSAP)• Manage State Fund's general ledger system and oversee data and processes related to the systems• Stay up to date with the Statements of Statutory Accounting Principles to ensure State Fund's financial statements are prepared in compliance with those principles
Desired Qualifications:
• Certified Public Accountant (highly desired)• Working experience with Statements of Statutory Accounting Princples (SSAP)• Experience effectively managing a team of professional accountants, ability to meet strict non-negotiable deadlines• Practical understanding of work process improvement methodologies to ensure efficiency and effective internal controls within area of responsibility• Proficient knowledge of principles, practices, standard operating policies and procedures, and techniques of personnel management to ensure effective operations of the Unit and compliance with federal and state labor laws
Office sites available for work; San Francisco, Pleasanton, Sacramento, San Jose, San Diego, Vacaville, Santa Ana, Redding, Stockton, or Glendale.
New to state candidates will be hired into the minimum of the salary range.

Working ConditionsSelected candidate(s) hired may be required to attend in-person Onboarding at our Vacaville office with expenses for attendance paid by State Fund.
The successful candidate must reside in California upon appointment.
Telework may be available and is subject to change based on State Fund guidelines and business needs, however, siince this is a managerial position, some travel will always be required.
