We are a Jackson Healthcare company and we are now the second largest healthcare staffing company in the U.S., serving more than 7 million patients in over 1,400 healthcare facilities. The Sr. Staff Accountant is responsible for assisting in month-end close, account reconciliations, filings with government agencies, and preparation of financial statements. This role assists in analyzing, comparing, and researching current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to ensure proper classification and comparison to budget. This position reviews and resolves problems as they are identified. The Sr. Staff Accountant serves as an informal mentor for new hires. ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS AND BASIC DUTIES:
General Ledger Accounting -70%
Participates in financial meetings Performs daily journal entries Ensures accurate and timely GL entries to process the month-end close Performs account reconciliations to support accurate bookkeeping Prepares financial statements Completes and submits government filings Responds to financial questions from internal customers Researches issues and troubleshoots for potential solutions Performs third-party fee management includng reconciliation, processing, accruing, and remitting payment Completes account and variance analysis Documents current changes in processes, revising the procedure manual as needed Assists in analyzing, comparing, and researching current costs, revenues, financial commitments, and obligations to ensure proper classification and comparison to budget Assist with year-end audit Serves as SME for General Ledger Informal Mentor to New Staff Accountants - 30%
Serves as informal mentor to new associates and assists with training May work on special projects or other duties as assigned SUPERVISORY/BUDGETARY/EXTERNAL COMMUNICATION RESPONSIBILITY
Communicates with external service providers QUALIFICATIONS - EDUCATION, WORK EXPERIENCE, CERTIFICATIONS
Bachelor's Degree in Accounting required 5+ years as a general ledger accountant required KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES
