Position Summary
Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles (GSGLA) is seeking a savvy team player who thrives in a collaborative, innovative work environment. The candidate who fills this position will be working at an exciting and pivotal time as we find innovative ways to engage and support our girl and volunteer members in programming and experiences to bring exceptional opportunities to our older girl members and to fulfill the Girl Scout mission. The Girl Innovation Program Specialist is a full-time employee of Girl Scouts of Greater Los Angeles and reports to the Girl Innovation Program Manager. The Girl Innovation Program Specialist provides programming and experiences that are innovative, relevant and align with the GSGLA strategic initiatives and the GSUSA progression model for older girls. The candidate will provide a variety of leadership programming for older girls in the program areas of entrepreneurship, life skills, and highest awards programs for girls in sixth through twelfth grade. S/he is responsible for program curriculum development and implementation. S/he recruits and supervises all program and training volunteers, program aides and counselors in training. S/he supports membership recruitment and retention through effective programs that support Girl Scout Leadership Experience. The Girl Innovation Specialist is responsible for organizing local events, programming and experiences. The ideal candidate will have a passion for youth development and a commitment to staying on top of the most current practices in this growing field. We are looking for a solution-oriented individual who thrives on social interaction and puts practices in place to nurture and grow the department.
Essential Duties & ResponsibilitiesDesigns, develops, and implements program curriculum and experiences for older girls; in-person, virtual and hybrid.Formulate programs and training calendars and schedules and provide appropriate information to be included in the council's communication materials (newsletters, website, etc.) in an accurate and timely manner.Responsible for the development, implementation, and analyzation of outcome evaluation to effectively measure the success of program delivery for all relevant programming. Tracks and reports on impact outcomes with the Girl Innovation Program Manager.Assist in the stability and growth of the highest awards program, including training, workshops, webinars, mentorship programs, project review and annual award recognition ceremonies.Directs regional Go Gold Teams for girls in the process of earning their Gold AwardsOversee 100+ girls annually who are earning their Gold Awards.Responsible for planning a regional Silver Award Ceremony for 1,000+ girls who have earned their Silver Award.Participates in the planning and implementation of the Gold Award Ceremony.Assist in the stability and growth of the Emerging Leader Program, providing annual opportunities in the areas of career exploration, social impact, mentoring and life after high school.Establishes, develops, and maintains positive customer relationships with parents, troop leaders, service unit volunteers and other community-based and youth serving organizations.Responsible for the development of all program costing tools for the annual operation budget, including revenue and expense projections. Executes and monitors budgets ensuring cost effective delivery of programs.Effectively negotiates and executes contracts with vendors, services, and contract personnel.Provide timely and effective communication with the Girl Innovation Manager to ensure that program goals are met in alignment with the organizational strategic plan.Collaborates with business leads in all appropriate GSGLA departments.Other duties as assigned.Qualifications
Recommended Education, Training and Experience
Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experienceExperience in youth programming, curriculum development, event planning, volunteer management or related fields in diverse populations preferred.Demonstrated ability to manage a large, multi-aged group of children ranging in size from 25 to 300 girls.Demonstrated success in working with volunteers or managing and leading teams.Demonstrated ability to multi-task, prioritize deadlines, work independently, and take initiative in a fast paced and challenging work environment.Effective communicator with the capacity to collaborate with others and be a team player.Possess effective meeting and project management skills.Experience in the development and administration of work plans, budgets, and program evaluation.A demonstrated commitment to service excellence and customer satisfactionTechnical computer skills Microsoft Office Suite and customer relationship management systems, preferably Salesforce.Willingness to work a flexible schedule including evenings and weekends.Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Ability to spend time sitting, utilizing the computer, and standing and walking throughout the facilities.Ability to travel via personal vehicle or public transportation to various facilities throughout the region.Ability to lift up to 15 pounds periodicallyFlexibility to attend evening and/or weekend meetings and/or eventsAble to perform this job safely, without endangering the health or safety of themselves or others.The preceding functions have been provided as examples of the types of work performed by employees assigned to this job classification.
