As a member of the Financeteam, theSenior Accountant is responsible for assisting with daily accounting operations, focusing on the General Ledger (GL) and ensuring accurate and timely financial reporting.

This position has a hybrid schedule requiring 2 days per week in office. Weekdays: 7:30 AM - 4:00 PM
Position responsibilities:
Ensure accurate and timely maintenance of the General Ledger, including monthly, quarterly, and year-end close processes.Prepare, review and approve journal entries and account reconciliations.Research the FASB guidance as required and apply accounting practices as needed.Collaborate with other departments on projects as needed.Train new Staff Accountants.Prepare routine and complex journal entries, including accrual journal entries while maintaining appropriate GL support.Prepare monthly bank and account reconciliations.Assist with month end reporting and with US Census Reports.Assist Accounting Manager with year-end closing, including preparation of audit schedules and providing auditors with necessary information.Oversee the preparation of monthly financial reports and variance analyses for management review.Ensure accuracy and compliance with generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP) and relevant regulatory requirements.Position requirements:
Bachelor's Degree (B.S.) in Accounting, Finance, or related field; from a four-year college or university; at least five of years of progressive experience in Accounting or Finance roles, with a focus on financial reporting and analysis; or equivalent combination of education and experience.A Certified Public Accountant (CPA) is preferred, but not required for this role.Strong understanding of Generally Accepted Accounting Principles and ensure compliance with those principles.Ability to attend to detail at a high level of accuracy.Ability to establish priorities and manage multiple tasks.Ability to work independently and in a team-based environment.Johnstone Supply is strongly interested in hiring a great candidate that exhibits work behaviors & values that are conducive to building and maintaining a strong and effective company culture.
