QUALIFICATIONS:1. Master's degree in either school counseling, social work, psychology, or education2. NJ DOE Standard, CE, or CEAS certificate as CSA or Principal Required.3.Experience as an anti-bullying specialist is required.
REPORTS TO : Superintendent of Schools for K-8 Counseling, High School Principal for high school pupil services
PERFORMANCE RESPONSIBILITIES:District-Wide Responsibilities1. Supervise and evaluate K-12 Guidance Counselors.2. Analyze data and disseminate findings related to individual students, groups of students, students in the student support process and classrooms to positively impact achievement.3. Maintain records and ensure compliance with federal, state and local guidelines and reporting requirements.4. To coordinate culture and climate initiatives and programming districtwide. As such, identify trends and set goals and objectives to further define and improve our culture and climate programming. This includes:a. Collecting data using school climate surveys and other data sourcesb. Identify and prioritize needs through data analysisc. Develop / implement school/ district improvement plans to address needsd. Implement progress monitoring and make modifications as necessarye. Research and implement best practices, including collaborating with peers both within & outside of the district in the development of strategies to drive the health and well being of the student population5. To coordinate district social and emotional initiatives.6. To establish and oversee the district-wide Culture and Climate Committee.7. To conduct short term and long term planning to promote positive School Culture and Climate and align planning to the district's strategic plan, including generating consensus about core values, rules and consequences and publicizing them throughout the district.8. To act as the District H.I.B. Coordinator9. To act as the District 504 Coordinator10. To prepare, review, and certify the NJ DOE reports related to school safety and wellness, including those that are part of the School Safety Data System.11. To coordinate district and school-based character education efforts and activities.12. To apply for and manage local, state, and federal grants as they relate to the district's culture and climate initiative.13. To provide professional development to relevant staff members, including the modeling of best practices.14. Serve as the District McKinney-Vento Coordinator.15. Other duties as assigned by the superintendent.High School Pupil Services Responsibilities1. Recruits, interviews, screens and recommends personnel for the department.2. Oversees and manages all dual and concurrent enrollment programs at Sparta High School.3. Coordinates and supervises Sparta High School's Option Il program, i.e. internships, cooperative education, and independent studies.4. Conducts in-service workshops and training and development programs for members of the department and for selected teachers.5. Assumes responsibility for remaining aware of state and county requirements and regulations affecting school graduation requirements.6. Monitors the student record system to ensure that approved information is kept current in student cumulative record folders.7. Prepares and administers the student support services budget.8. Organizes and runs the High School I&RS Committee.9. Recommends students for CST evaluation using the findings of the l&RS Committee.10. Coordinates college planning and college admissions/applications programs and communicates information to faculty, students and parent community.11. Manages and maintains student Personalized Learning Plans.12. Creates high school Master Schedule13. Serves as Testing coordinator for the high school14. Other Duties as assigned by the superintendent
TERM OF EMPLOYMENT:12 Months. Salary to be determined by the Board of Education.
EVALUATION:Performance will be evaluated in accordance with Board policies and procedures on theevaluation of professional staff.
