SUMMARY

The Workers' Compensation Specialist administers the workers' compensation program for the organization. This associate implements a consistent process for recording, investigating, and reporting workers' compensation claims complying with laws and regulations. Responsible for managing claims, analyzing claims data, and collaborating with our Third-Party Administrator(s). Work towards reducing costs and financial exposure, managing liabilities, and ensuring compliance with government regulations and company policies within agreed authority limits.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Prepares and submits required compliance reporting and documentation to OSHA, state and local agencies, and other entities.Responsible for developing, maintaining, and managing the organizations workers' compensation program. Implements all matters of the program, including claim investigations, settlements, and litigation while partnering with internal legal counsel.Manages all claims and liaises with the employees, managers, insurance representatives, medical staff, and attorneys involved with a case.Communicates case status details and necessary information to involved parties, including notifications of hearings, outcomes, return to work, or restrictions.Coordinates with management team when presented with accommodations for workers.Performs reviews of overall cases to identify trends and propose solutions.Maintains up-to-date knowledge of all regulations and laws for reporting workers' compensation.Develops and assists with safety programs focused on injury prevention.Update and maintain the HRIS records, ensuring data integrity related to Workers' Compensation incident notes, along with any associated Leave of Absence (LOA), are entered in the associate profile as needed for maintenance, resolving data errors.Protect the company's assets and financial information by ensuring the accuracy and effectiveness of internal control procedures and informing management and/or appropriate officials of potential fraud risk.SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES

QUALIFICATIONS

Bachelor's degree or equivalent work experience4 to 7 years of related experienceAdvanced knowledge of spreadsheet and database applications, data query tools, word processing software, electronic mail, and internet search toolsStrong communication and attention to detail skillsCompetencies

LANGUAGE SKILLS

Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to speak effectively before groups of customers or employees of an organization.

MATHEMATICAL SKILLS

Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to demonstrate knowledge of generally accepted Human Resources principles.

REASONING ABILITY

Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
