is seeking a

GIS Technician

in our

Frisco, Texas office.

Responsibilities include creation and maintenance of ESRI ArcGIS map files and databases, digitizing map data (points, lines, and polygons) from technical drawings and CAD files and performing data entry of associated attribution using Esri ArcGIS and other database software. Additional administrative and technical functions will be assigned as needed to support the Utility Coordination Department.

QUALIFICATIONS

The successful candidate's most important qualifications include the following.

2-4 years professional experience using ESRI ArcPro and Web Applications required.This is an entry to mid-level position where communication skills, attention to detail and technical prowess will be the keys to success.Degree, Certificate or training in Geographic Information Science, Geography, AutoCAD, or other similar experience.Understanding of or Experience with web-based GIS - Esri Web applications or similar.Understanding of GIS QC processes and procedures and ability to readUnderstanding of Esri's Model builder, Safe FME, python or other programming language is a plus.Experience in data management through programs such as Smartsheets, MS Projects or similar is a plus.Experience with TxDOT ROW and Utility policies/procedures preferred.Using logic and reasoning to identify the strengths and weaknesses of alternative solutions, conclusions, or approaches to problemsIdentify complex problems and review related information to develop and evaluate options and implement solutions.Understand the implications of new information for both current and future problem-solving and decision-making.Motivation to work in a dynamic environment with strict deadlines.Desire to collaborate with professionals and clients to increase your industry knowledge and grow in your career.Commitment to perform responsibilities consistent with industry standards to achieve department and company goals.Interest in developing relationships with clients, partners, and local organizations to remain a trusted resource in the community.ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

Perform data entry, update and maintenance functions for GIS databases using workstations, personal computers, and GIS software.Maintaining database standards, communicating changes, and troubleshooting issues.Evaluate source data using standard methods and documentation and interpret and transfer data from source documents.Research and verify geographic data.Draw maps using advanced computer software.Ensure maps are annotated and compiled with the correct information.Compile reports using all available GIS and GPS data sources.Perform quality control for database maintenance and review the input and output to ensure integrity of database changes.Manually locating addresses (geocoding/reverse geocoding) and other features may be necessary.Maintain the GIS database and troubleshoot data issues.Maintain established workflows including but not limited to entering dates, project updates and other relevant information into Smartsheet and/or related databases.Create customized Smartsheet Reports, Formulas and Automations.Responsible for assisting Project manager with developing project plans and schedules, determining timelines, allocating resources, and coordinating activities among team members and stakeholders.Travel to CobbFendley offices, client office, and project locations will be required as needed.Perform independent research and adapt to changing priorities.Work in a collaborative team environment and deliver accurate work product that is error free.Adhere to CobbFendley's safety standards to uphold a safe and efficient environment.Maintain a professional attitude and fulfill responsibilities with integrity.If and when the duties and responsibilities change and develop, the job description will be reviewed and subject to changes of business necessity.

Work Environment. Primarily conducted in a professional office setting.Office Conditions. Includes extensive use of electronic devices such as computers, printers, copiers, scanners, plotters, and telephones. Movement within the office including navigating between floors and workstations.Neck Movement. Repetitive finger movements for operating a computer mouse and typing on a keyboard.Arm Movement. Extending hands and arms in various directions, such as overhead, below the waist, forward, or laterally.Object Handling. Raising or lowering objects from one level to another and transporting objects by holding them in the hands, arms, or over the shoulder.Cognitive Requirements. This is a full-time position, generally 40 hours per week, however, hours may fluctuate depending on department needs including the use of overtime.CobbFendley's standard operating hours are Monday through Friday, 7:30 AM to 4:30 PM CST. Generally, employees receive a 1-hour unpaid lunch break free of duty. Please note, operating hours and lunch hours may differ based on project workload, primarily for field staff.WORK LOCATION FLEXIBILTY
