The Human Resources (HR) Specialist supports operations within the Human Resources office and provides administrative support to the Assistant Director, Director and Vice Chancellor HR. The HR Specialist advises and assists employees on human resources policies and procedures for efficient execution of internal processes. The HR Specialist will coordinate the talent requisition process, assist with recruitment and the lifecycle of the interview process, and facilitate other engagement activities across campus. The HR Specialist will have a comprehensive understanding of Ivy Tech's mission, vision, policies, and procedures, and support employees in administration of policies and procedures. The HR Specialist is required to maintain currency with HR current trends, issues, and best practices that are applicable to the College.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
PROVIDE ADMINISTRATIVE SUPPORT : The Human Resources (HR) Specialist will provide administrative support to the Assistant Director, Director and the Vice Chancellor HR. Respond to inquiries from employees in a timely manner regarding policies and procedures, job searches, and HR services while maintaining standards of confidentiality and privacy, in accordance with the College, FERPA, student records, federal, state, and local regulations, and any other protected documentation. Assist in Period Activity Pay approval process submitted by Academic Assistants. Participate on college committees and teams to resolve problems, develop systems, and improve interdepartmental cooperation and efficiencies and new-hires employment processes.
MANAGE EMPLOYEE INFORMATION : The Human Resources Specialist will manage data collection, maintenance, storage, and retrieval of documentation related to recruitment and talent acquisition. Will manage the efficient flow of the workload processes including employment records related to hiring, transfer, promotion, and termination in the appropriate databases, as well as non-employee/ contractor processing. Assist in HRIS data audits and pull reports to ensure data integrity and update information, if needed. The HR Specialist will oversee the processing of employment verifications.
COORDINATE EMPLOYEE ONBOARDING AND OFFBOARDING : The Human Resources Specialist will follow College policies and procedures in onboarding and offboarding employees. The Specialist will work with supervisors to coordinate new employee orientations to assure a smooth transition into the workplace. Assist as needed in conducting new hire orientation sessions to educate employees on College systems, policies, procedures, and technology. Posts open positions, update current positions, utilizes the college's HireRight on-line system to process criminal conviction and employment verification background checks. Utilize Indiana and National sexual offender registries to check for new hires. And process E-Verify forms.
DEMONSTRATE PROFESSIONAL AND QUALITY CUSTOMER SERVICE : The Human Resources Specialist will demonstrate professionalism and provide quality customer service in accordance with the College's values; maintain positive working relationships, and make decisions and solve problems; maintain confidentiality, positive communication, accurate records, and an organized, safe working environment; exhibit flexibility, willingness to learn, ability to change, and maintain current technology skills.
Compensation: $19.50-22.00/ Hr.

Minimum Qualifications :
Minimum Associate degree in related field required. Bachelors preferred.
Minimum of three years of full-time experience in human resources or a related field
