The Bus Driver is responsible for transporting students from school to club sites and other sites within designated route(s). The bus driver is responsible for the safe operation of the school bus and ensuring student passengers safety while meeting established bus schedules. Bus drivers are expected to assist with helping students board the bus, learning which students take their route, and planning around traffic during the trip.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:Maintains order and proper discipline of student passengers.Ensures the safety and welfare of children and vehicles at all times.Assist students with getting on and off the bus as needed.Obeys all traffic laws and adheres to all applicable organizational policies.Transports children and staff on field trips to various locations; planning necessary route(s) and stops as neededResponsible for fueling, routine maintenance, and cleanliness of buses and vans.Completes periodic mileage and other reports, including passenger counts.Services buses with gas, diesel fuel, and oil; when necessary, fill tiresMaintains a clean and mechanically sound bus by routinely inspecting the bus before and after each route.Reports needed mechanical repairs when necessary to facilities and fleet manager.Washes bus as needed.Attends various meetings regarding safety, first aid, and training updates as requiredPerforms other related and assigned duties as requiredQualifications

Must be at least 23 years of age.Possess a high school diploma.Hold a valid Texas Class B, Class A with passenger endorsement, or CDL Driver's License with passenger certification.Maintain an acceptable driving record.Willingness to assist with Food Bank duties or other tasks as needed.Basic knowledge of first aid practices, procedures, and techniques.Familiarity with safe driving practices.Ability to read and write effectively to complete required duties.Capability to understand and independently carry out both oral and written instructions.Competency in establishing and maintaining proper conduct among students on BGCSA vehicles.Skilled in driving a school bus safely and efficiently.Demonstrated good judgment and extreme caution while driving.Ability to maintain valid certification as a bus driver per state regulations.Physically capable of meeting the requirements needed to perform the duties safely and effectively.Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain effective working relationships with colleagues and youth.
