Why does the job exist?

This position is responsible for providing oversight of information technology support services of a predominately Windows environment within the Department of Health's Southwest Region area. The position leads a team of Technical Support professionals who provide support for approximately 1,000 computers, but will also serve as a facilitator between desktop support and server, and network teams. The position serves as an Enterprise IT project technical team leader. This position works within an IT Service Management Platform, accepting, documenting, and completing tasks that are assigned to their service area. Responsibilities also include enterprise software evaluation, deployment, administration, and vulnerability remediation. The position manages staff, peer, customer, and vendor relationships within their geographic region. This position supports systems that serve the programs that NM residents are dependent upon

How does it get done?

This position is a member of the Department of Health Information Technology Service Management Bureau and is responsible for prioritizing resolution of tasks escalated to Level 2 from the DOH Service Desk. Tasks include IT customer service incidents and service requests, providing oversight for critical IT services for business operations for all divisions within DOH. This position installs, configures, and manages workstations. This position is responsible for results as team leader on enterprise-level technical projects, creating and assigning tasks to team members and is responsible for projected results.

This position supports all divisions within the Department of Health.

Ideal Candidate

The ideal candidate has experience supporting a Microsoft Windows workplace by troubleshooting and resolving computer related incidents and service requests. This candidate provides high quality technical support to their customers. Multi-tasking is required to perform actions in an optimized order to accomplish many tasks at once and achieve an overall successful rate of task resolution.

The ideal candidate also has experience supporting a VDI Environment, knowledge of Mac OS, the ability to Multi-task, and has great attention to detail.Proficiency in automating processes within Halo Ticketing system and updating/maintaining staff assignmentsExperience providing guidance and resolving complex technical issues;Supervisory experience;Strong leadership skills;Experience providing training to staff on specific environments and technologies.

Minimum Qualification

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Management Information Systems (MIS), Information Technology, Engineering or similar technical degree and four (4) years of experience in systems administration. Substitutions Apply. See Substitution Table below.

Employment Requirements

Must possess and maintain a valid Driver's License. Must possess and maintain a current Defensive Driving Course Certificate from the State of New Mexico or must pass and receive Defensive Driving Course Certification as a condition of continued employment. Successful completion of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPPA) training.

Working Conditions

Work is performed in an office setting with exposure to Visual/Video Display terminal (VDT) and extensive personal computer and phone usage. Some travel may be required. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs. This position is required to respond to New Mexico Department of Health staff, and the New Mexico Department of Health Operation Center in an event of a disaster or emergency.
