Job Duties

Serves as senior member of the leadership team and provides executive direction and guidance to the following areas: Administrative Law, Unemployment Insurance, Customer Contact Center Operations, and Central Records.

Directs the preparation, execution, monitoring and adjustment of division budgets; supervises professional staff and manages complex programs; ensures compliance with agency, state, and federal guidelines; and ensures appropriate allocation of resources.

Works with the Commissioner, Chief Deputy and other Deputy Commissioners to ensure business needs are met and communicated. Collaborates with executive team members to ensure effective and efficient business operations and consistent and appropriate service delivery.

Represents the agency through interactions with government executives, elected officials, the public, and other stakeholders; serves as liaison to various parties (e.g., Office of the Attorney General and Department of Labor); makes formal presentations; and provides supplemental support to the Commissioner.

Minimum Qualifications

Comprehensive knowledge of management principles and practices; business and management principles related to strategic planning, resource allocation, human resources modeling, and leadership techniques; legislative process, budget, finance and funding for public-sector workforce services and programs at local, state and federal levels; unemployment insurance programs, including adjudication of cases; and call center operations, business practices and service delivery models.

Demonstrated ability to lead, manage and problem solve in a geographically dispersed organization; interpret state and federal regulations and policies; draft and implement strategic and operational plans; and develop and execute fiscally responsible budgets.

Exceptional oral and written communication, leadership, decision-making, project management, quality assurance, and computer (e.g., Microsoft Office 360/Professional or comparable software and automated systems) skills.

Must complete mandatory training and forms related to Statement of Economic Interests.

Additional Considerations

Education, training, and/or experience related to business/public administration or similar field.

Progressively responsible experience working with complex UI programs (including tax, benefits, and appeals), systems, and projects, and managing professional staff performing related duties.

Experience with customer contact center operations and related automated systems.

Experience working in an executive level position within a governmental setting.
