Position Summary
Supervise, support, and lead the property accounting group on day-to-day and monthly close deadlines, including GL close, revenue close, account reconciliations, journal entries, and other analytical procedures. The Property Accounting Manager is also responsible for general accounts analysis, production, and JIB accounting.
Reporting Structure
This position reports directly to the Division Controller and indirectly to the Crescent Controller
Primary ResponsibilitiesCoordinate and supervise monthly close process for assigned assetsRevenue and JIB allocations and calculations, especially revenueReview and post monthly journal entriesPrepare and review monthly revenue, expense, and capex accrualsEnsure that all journals are appropriately completed, supported, and reviewedReview reconciled balance sheet and income statement accountsReview accounts analysis and reconciliations, including but not limited to accruals, prepaid expenses, revenue, production, and JIB accountingReview sales and use tax filingsCoordinate internal and external audit requestsProvide adequate review, direction and supervision of staff, and substitute others in the team when neededAdditional oil and gas operational accounting dutiesEducation and Experience Requirements
Bachelors or Masters degree in accounting is required2-3 years of public accounting or oil and gas experience is preferred1-2 years of supervisory experience is requiredProficient with Microsoft Office products, particularly ExcelMajor ERP system experience is preferred; SAP experience is beneficialPersonal Attributes and Position Requirements
Strong leadership and management skillsStrong communication skills, both written and verbal, and ability to interact effectively with various levels of managementAbility to work on multiple, complex projects, simultaneously with frequent interruptions and see them through to completion with limited supervisionMotivated, self-directed, and results-driven approach to work, also takes ownership of assigned tasksDeadline orientedAbility to independently develop solutions to problems/challenges as they ariseStrong attention detail and excellent organizational skillsEffective in a fast-paced environment, adapting to and managing change in a positive and proactive manner
