GPD is currently seeking a

Planning Intern

to assist and support design efforts for our current and upcoming projects related to telecommunications towers, fiber and wireless telecommunications. The Planning Intern role will learn how to navigate and drive jurisdictional requirements to expedite the approval process. This person will be mentored and trained in Integral planning duties like researching existing requirements, building relationships with jurisdictions. They must be highly self-organized and possess excellent communication skills for this role.

The ideal candidate will possess:Attaining an Associate's or Bachelor's degree in Planning or Communications.Knowledge of the IBC, NEC, IMC, IFC, etc.Ability to interpret architectural drawings.Able to work with jurisdictions and accurately fill out permit applications and respond to comments.Ability to work on project teams and work individually.Candidate should possess strong verbal and written communication skills.Valid driver's license required, travel to verify or gather field data is required.Responsibilities will include:

Assist in performing site and building due diligence reports.Compile permitting timelines.Complete municipal research.Successfully support efforts to move our projects through zoning and building code compliance.Research, understand and update filing requirements for jurisdictions identified.Assist project team with the necessary preparation of various permit submittal packages.Submit and monitor progress of applications through the various stages of the approval process.Meet with Town/Village/City staff as required.Communicate plan examiner comments in a timely manner.Attend field meetings as necessary.Coordinate delivery/pickup of time sensitive documentation.Maintain data base of critical jurisdictional decision makers.
