Position Summary: The “Director of Logistics” will be responsible for overseeing and managing all logistics operations to provide value-added services. This role will ensure that VPL delivers exceptional customer experiences through on-time deliveries, cost control, and effective coordination with the S&OP department. Additionally, the Director will lead the growth by developing third-party logistics services, expanding its reach, and ensuring the long-term profitability and scalability of the logistics operation.
1. Logistics Management: - Oversee all logistics operations to ensure the timely delivery of goods and services to company and external customers. - Monitor and control logistics costs to meet budgetary requirements while maintaining high service levels. - Ensure seamless coordination with the S&OP department to align logistics with production and sales forecasts. 2. Customer Experience: - Develop and implement strategies to deliver outstanding customer service through on-time, accurate, and efficient deliveries. - Resolve logistics issues proactively and maintain clear communication with customers and internal stakeholders.
3. Operational Efficiency: - Identify opportunities to improve the efficiency of logistics operations, including route optimization, warehouse management, and freight negotiation. - Leverage technology and best practices to streamline operations, reduce costs, and enhance productivity.
4. Third-Party Logistics Growth: - Develop and execute strategies to grow third-party logistics service offerings. - Identify and pursue new business opportunities in the third-party logistics market to expand customer base. - Build relationships with external clients, ensuring VPL delivers the same high-quality service.
5. Team Leadership & Development: - Lead, manage, and develop a high-performing logistics team, fostering a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and customer focus. - Provide training and development opportunities to ensure the logistics team is equipped with the latest industry knowledge and skills.
6. S&OP Integration: - Collaborate closely with the S&OP department to ensure logistics plans align with production schedules and sales forecasts. - Participate in S&OP meetings to provide input on logistics capabilities and ensure the logistics plan supports overall business objectives.
7. Performance Monitoring & Reporting: - Develop and track key performance indicators (KPIs) for logistics, including on-time delivery rates, cost per shipment, and customer satisfaction. - Provide regular reports to senior leadership on logistics performance, cost savings, and operational improvements.
Qualifications: - Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain Management, Logistics, Operations, or a related field. - 7+ years of experience in logistics, supply chain management, or related fields, with a focus on both operations and customer service. - Strong understanding of S&OP processes and the ability to align logistics with sales and operations planning. - Proven experience growing third-party logistics services and building external customer relationships. - Excellent leadership and team management skills. - Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities. - Proficiency in logistics software and ERP systems (experience with [Insert ERP System] preferred). - Exceptional communication and customer service skills.
