JCS Solutions has a need for a
Chief Network Design Engineer
to join our growing Defense Enclave Services (DES) team at Ft. Meade, MD. The DES program is a highly demanding mission and requires expert technical and professional management to support DISA's enterprise Information Technology (IT) services. You will be supporting a large and complex IT discovery, design, and migration effort towards a Single Service Provider model for the Department of Defense. This role will include discovery, analysis, and design activities required to migrate common IT services from multiple large-scale DoD agencies into DoDNet. What you will do:
The specific duties include but are not necessarily limited to the following:
Provide Subject Matter Expertise in network design, integration, test, security, and implementation of Network Services for DISA DoDNet.Provide expert knowledge of network engineering and operations, large scale enterprise network solution implementation and transition to Network Operations, as well as test and evaluation activities. Perform highly technical maintenance involving network devices routers, switches, security solutions, and WANX.Participate in technical development of staff.Oversee the management of 5+ direct reports.Propose new solutions to Network Domain Architects to define and/or continuously improve:
Direct STIG compliant configuration baselines, versioning, and compliance trackingEvaluate the effectiveness of Automation and best practice insertion opportunitiesOversee development of SOPs/TTPsContinuous Service Improvements (CSI)System performance tuning and enhancementsCreate and maintain Engineering Implementation Plans (EIP)
Evaluate network bandwidth needs and recommend measures to meet those requirements.Provide expert knowledge of defense-in-depth standards, Network and Security architecture, network topology, IT device integrity, and common security elements.Plan and execute network upgrades and maintenance activities with the appropriate Delivery Operations Managers, NOC Lead, Release Management team and other key stakeholders.Serve as the senior Tier III escalation support engineer for Incident Management activities.Develop and maintain technical documents, analyses, and reports.Actively participate in Root Cause Analysis for Problem Management activities.Able to work in a dynamic, fast-paced and mission-focused environment.Excellent communication and collaboration skills are a must.To be successful, you should have:
Previous work experience providing engineering and operational services on DISA supported networks.Experience with Aruba ClearPass Policy Manager (CPPM) identity management solution.Demonstrated NET/SEC DevOps experience.ITIL v3/v4 certification/training.Agile certifications or applicable experience.DoD IAT Level III CISSP certification.Strong oral, written, interpersonal and organizational skills.Required Skills and Experience:
Must hold an active Secret security clearance and have the ability to obtain a Top Secret. (US Citizenship required)A Bachelor's degree and 15+ years of network engineering experience; additional years of experience may be substituted in lieu of a degree.Must have a DoD IAT level II baseline certification, prior to start (Sec+).Must have CCIE certificationExcellent analytical capabilities including creative problem solving and root cause analysis.Committed to documentation and organization efforts.Capable of multitasking while working in a constantly shifting environment with many moving pieces.Strong communication skills and ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment.
