Back Office Medical Assistant Floater

Job Title: Back Office Medical Assistant FloaterJob DescriptionThe Floater will perform quality team-based patient care under the direct supervision of a clinician for both clinical and administrative functions to promote health and wellness in a safe and friendly environment. Supports clinician and care management teams in assessing, maintaining chronic disease management, examining, and treating patient population. The medical assistant floater is responsible for performing all laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks. This floating employee will be working in various offices to support in either the MA role or dedicated lab duties.ResponsibilitiesPerform quality team-based patient care under the supervision of a clinician.Support clinician and care management teams in maintaining chronic disease management.Conduct laboratory testing procedures and phlebotomy, including venipuncture, finger sticks, and heel sticks.Examine and treat patient population.Float between various offices to support either in the MA role or in dedicated lab duties.Assess emergencies and act accordingly.Communicate and maintain effective working relationships with patients, employees, and the public.Take vitals, with a preference for manual vitals.Essential SkillsMedical assistingPhlebotomyPediatricsVital signsKnowledge of laboratory quality control requirementsBasic medical terminologyUniversal precaution procedures in medical safety practicesEffective communication and relationship managementEmergency assessment and responseFlexibility to float from one location to anotherIndependent and responsibleAdditional Skills & QualificationsHigh school diploma required2 years' experience within clinic/back office healthcare settingMA diploma OR Certified MA (CMA) OR 3 years' MA experiencePhlebotomy experience requiredMust be able to take vitals (manual vitals preferred)Active BLS requiredActive driver's license requiredFlexible to adjust to changing work environmentBilingual (English-Spanish) preferredExperience with TriMed EMR preferredWork Environment100% onsite: floats between Monday - Friday (8:00am to 5:00pm) AND Every-Other-Saturday (8:00am to 12:00pm).
