Location / Job Overview
The Buyer/Planner is a member of the Logistic team at Thermo Fisher Scientific in Richardson, TX. Our factory produces low-volume, high-complexity nanoProbing diagnostic equipment in semiconductor manufacturing. The primary focus of the Buyer/Planner is to issue purchase orders and provide purchasing support for the entire site in order to meet the needs of Manufacturing, Operations, Applications, Engineering and R&D teams.
What will you do?
Create purchase orders, follow-up on open order status and update ETA in timely manner.
Report and raise any delivery delays or possible shortage to team members.
Manage supplier's OTD (On-Time Delivery) and KPI metrics.
Source raw materials, components, services, and tools as needed.
Act as liaison between vendors and companies.
Establish and maintain sound relationship with vendors. Communicate effectively to achieve better results in pricing and terms.
Process PO requests in timely manner, relay status update, and report issues to internal customers.
Keep manufacturing and leadership team informed on backorders, shortages or mis-shipments.
Works closely with Planning team regarding forecast, demand, and customer shipments.
Assist/support Distribution team and work with Material Handlers in regards to inventory management.
Provide support and collaborate with Accounts Payable team to resolve any accounting issues with vendors.
MRB/RMA duties and other duties as assigned.
Education
Bachelor’s degree in Supply Chain, Business, Engineering or other related fields are preferred.
High school diploma or equivalent and 4+ years’ related experience in lieu of Bachelor’s Degree required.
Experience
3+ years of purchasing experience in manufacturing environment.
ERP system or MRP experience preferred.
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities
Outstanding analytical and time management skills.
Strong interpersonal skills, with the ability to work well in a team.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills. Proficient in English (verbal and written).
Able to thrive in a dynamic environment.
Maintain a high level of accuracy and attention to detail.
Proficient with Microsoft Office Suite (Excel, Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint, etc.)
Physical Requirements:
Ability to sit at computer and move about the facility. Ability to lift 25 pounds.
