Job Description
Under the direction of the Manager, this position is responsible for the supervision and review of financial reports and reports filed with various regulatory agencies (i.e. Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC), Federal Reserve Bank (FRB). This position is also responsible for implementing regulatory accounting policies to be followed by the Bank, and performing research and analysis as necessary. If applicable or appropriate, assists in business unit's compliance with applicable laws, regulations, regulatory requirements and Bank policies and procedures, including but not limited to those related to Fair Banking, Anti-Money Laundering laws and regulations, Bank Secrecy Act and USA PATRIOT Act.
Responsibilities
Coordinates and prepares periodic reports for the SEC, FDIC, FRB, and other agencies in accordance with regulatory reporting instructions and general accepted account principles, as required. Researches and analyzes various accounting and regulatory issues affecting reporting processes. Maintains and updates GL application interface designated for regulatory reporting.Coordinates and performs periodic testing and validation of report procedures and processes to ensure compliance with internal controls and policies. Reviews or prepares schedules requested by regulatory (e.g. FDIC, FRB), internal, and external auditors. Prepares special reports and analyses as requested by Executive Management.Assists in analysis of source system data and improvement of data quality and reconciliation. Maintains and updates bank policies related to regulatory reporting. Keeps abreast of changes in accounting and regulatory principles, regulations, and laws.Assists other departments, branches and subsidiaries with financial and regulatory accounting issues and ensures regulatory reporting and GAAP requirements are communicated to business units. Provides technical guidance and training.Responsible for management and supervision of employees including staffing, compensation, performance management, training and development, and succession planning. Strives to attract, retain and motivate employees to achieve corporate objectives and to maintain favorable employee relations. Responsible for the timely and effective management of Human Resource requirements for the staff.Performs all other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.This position requires use of a personal computer and other standard office equipment.
Qualifications
1. Education: Bachelor's degree from accredited institution with a major in accounting or related field or equivalent work experience. CPA preferred.
2. Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in financial reporting and accounting roles of increasing responsibility. Strong understanding of bank accounting and financial reporting. Experience with publicly traded corporations, financial institutions, accounting firms and regulatory filings preferred. Experience in leading or supervising a project team is preferred.
3. Technical Skills: Demonstrated proficiency with personal computers in a networked environment and Microsoft applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, Access and PowerPoint) or similar software. Knowledge of or ability to use Bank software, systems, and SQL databases. Must have strong Excel skills (e.g., proficient with pivot tables, vlookup, filters, etc.).
4. Other Job Qualifications: Demonstrated written and verbal communication and interpersonal skills. Must possess strong analytical, quantitative and problem solving skills to identify opportunities and risks and make recommendations. Must be deadline oriented and demonstrate strong project management skills. Proactive, curious, self-starter who requires minimal supervision with the ability to work across multiple departments and divisions. Demonstrated drive to improve, learn, research, and resolve issues independently and/or with others. Able to work flexible hours including holidays, weekends and evenings as needed or assigned
